Got lots of lovely supportive friends in other parts of the country, but would be great to get to know some other women in the same boat here. Anyone?

I'm beginning of March but will probably be a end of Feb due to a likely c section!

Oh no! If it's stopped, I think the Watershed one has started again 🤔

nobleisle · 23/10/2023 15:02

It could be because the come out a week in advance and if it's moved days it won't show until Thursday anyway. It's half term so I don't think it runs during half term. So we might be okay! 🙏

nobleisle · 23/10/2023 17:41

After a huge panic my friend emailed and they're doing it Tuesday mornings and afternoons and Thursday mornings. Panic over!

LeopardLover · 23/10/2023 18:55

@nobleisle Oh well done for finding out 👏

Bristolnewcomer · 23/10/2023 19:45

Ah well done cinema hero @nobleisle

Has anyone got any recommendations for prams/travel systems/whatever they're called that can withstand Bristol's many hills? Grin

Thank you but I can't take credit, I told a friend and she immediately emailed in panic 😂

@Bristolnewcomeri have a icandy peach cerium and it's fab but it is heavy! John Lewis do nursery apps and you get 10/15% off products

G'morning Bristol Ladies

Hope your all well? Hope your all sleeping soundly - pregnancy insomnia had me up at 05:30 ... gonna be a long day for me.
Wishing everyone well 😘

Bristolnewcomer · 25/10/2023 11:13

Argh poor you @bracemyselfagain - I'm having a revival of the "up three times a night for the toilet" dance which I hadn't really missed over the last couple of months!! I kind of want a nightlight...

I'm having a bit of a wobble this morning. I was having acid reflux daily every evening over the past few weeks but I haven't had it at all over the past few nights. Is it normal for it to just stop?

Also up two to three times a night to pee!

When did you all start feeling your babies move? I'm 18+5 and I feel like I've had the odd sort of rolling sensation, but nothing more than that yet...

Nov2023 · 25/10/2023 11:43

I'm due the end of November so it is feeling very real now!

does anyone have any experience of a c section in southmead? Wondering what the ward and aftercare might be like

Edited

Didn't have a C-Section with my first; but I was in theatre prepped for one as things went wrong with my induction; said they'd try one time with forceps (luckily it worked)
The team that prepped me though was AMAZING! They were very well organised, made a plan and literally got on with it. Things are still a blur to this day, but despite everything that was happening I knew me and my baby was safe with them in a weird way.
The ward; in all honesty, could've been better. Extremely busy/chaotic atmosphere, staff were so rushed off their feet they barely had time for anything.

This was at Southmead last Dec.
My own experience may not be yours though.
Ultimately when I needed emergency care, and when things got tough (not just for me but for the staff too) they we're definitely on the ball!

I think (baby brain and lack of sleep) that movements becomes regular & patterned at 24w is it?
Apologies if I'm wrong & it's sooner than that.

Nov2023 · 25/10/2023 12:56

@bracemyselfagain Thanks for this. I am feeling so well cared for up to now but I can see that the consultants and midwives are super busy. I am hoping the great care extends to post c section delivery. I hope I will manage to just get on with it but am also hoping to be given painkillers on time , help to lift baby if I can't manage alone etc. It's likely just nerves speaking now!

Sorry you're feeling wobbly! I didn't feel definite movements til about 20 weeks and it wasn't til I saw the baby again at the scan the week after that I could definitely say - that feeling is the baby moving, not just strange poking sensations in my lower abdomen for some reason!

I think things like reflux can just stop and start - I was mainlining Rennies for the first few months then there was a gap and now it's beginning again. But if you're worried have a chat with your midwife.

Is anyone else at Hampton House for midwife appts?

Staff on the ward definitely made sure I had pain relief if/when I needed it (I tore & they also had to cut) someone popped their head around my curtain to check in fairly frequent; it was just never the same head twice as they were so busy.
Found it almost impossible to get any extra sleep during the day - but I guess that's what home comforts are all about ☺️
One thing I wish I did do differently though ...
was press my buzzer more often! I sensed very quickly how busy it was & thought I shouldn't bother them with what I'd call the 'little things' (asking for help more basically) ... I struggled reaching for my suitcase, moving about etc.
Plus I felt spacey for hours after the spinal & pain relief; I just couldn't wait to get home & be in my own bed snuggling my baby in peace.

LeopardLover · 26/10/2023 13:38

@preggo39 Sounds totally normal! My indigestion has eased off a bit but will pick up again soon I'm sure.

I didn't feel my first until 24 weeks, this one at 17/18 I think. It's a tiny little sensation until they get bigger, and once you've experienced it once it's hard to miss! You'll feel more pronounced movements soon 😊

I had to walk up the big hill yesterday for physio! Not sure now I survived 😅

Bristolnewcomer · 26/10/2023 13:52

Ouch! I'm not sure that doesn't really counteract the physio! you're brave. Hope the physio actually helped?

Hi! How are we all!??

I'm 28w as of yesterday; second baby and feel like this is going sooo fast this time! Maybe because I have an 11m old to run around after and don't really have the time to sit & think about things 😅😅
Anyone else waiting to have 2 under 2?

Hi Bristolians! I am one of you. Not due til May/June but I had my first at St Mike's and I feel the views almost make up for the hill! I lived round the corner when pregnant with my first and struggling up and down the hills to get to town was almost sisyphean by the end.
I'm choosing St Mike's this time round too, mainly I think because I feel quite sentimental about it? I also like that it's close to the centre if I needed anyone to run out and grab supplies for me, or if people wanted to visit me on the ward (although parking is awful). I do think that Southmead is the better choice though for so many reasons - the parking, the modernity, the not being on a hill... I had my appendix out there a few years ago and it was great. Still loyal to St Michael's though.

Bristolnewcomer · 15/11/2023 17:45

Hello! how is everyone? Not about to have two under two but I salute you!

You're so right about the parking at St Michael's but it does have the advantage of a sandwich shop just up the road...

@ladycarlotta Welcome! 🥰

@bracemyselfagain 24 weeks over here and agree time is speeding up (since I stopped being sick at 18 weeks). I have a 2 year old so I'm constantly running/crawling around and carrying him. No time to stop and think 🤣

LeopardLover · 09/01/2024 20:34

How is everyone getting on? 😊
