Is this a BFP? After bleeding? Advice please!

Hi! We’re into our third month of TTC. I came on my period (or so I thought) on Thursday, bang on 28 days after my last period (which is normal for me). I used a tampon on Thursday and Friday as there was enough to fill one and bright red blood. This stopped on Saturday and turned to a small amount of dark discharge and no more since. My periods are usually heavy and last for 8 days so I knew this wasn’t normal and thought there was something wrong with me. I did a test on Monday and it was negative but did a test today and it showed this (see pic). Obviously it looks like a clear positive but I did have quite a bit of bleeding Thursday and Friday, which was like a normal period just less days. From what I’ve read online implantation bleeding should be light so I’m trying not to get my hopes up. Also my luteal phase is normally 7-8 days so always thought I’d struggle TTC.

To add to this, we were at a wedding on Friday and because I came on my period I was in a bit of a bad mood as thought TTC didn’t work so got drunk at the wedding, shots and all. Agh. I know this probably happens to a lot of people but I’m anxious!

Help and positive stories if possible pls!!!??? Thanks all.

Could you have a blood test? That would be more reliable than this and will definitely tell you if you have pregnant.

That's definitely a positive test. Get some more all of the same brand then take another one in a couple of days and see if there is a pattern of the line getting darker.

Or go to the Drs and explain you've had a positive test and heavy bleeding. They might refer you to the early pregnancy unit who will give you a scan. It might be too early to see anything though.

That looks like quite a clear positive, maybe wait a couple days and take another test to see if it gets darker or get a digital one.

I had a similar heavy implantation bleed though! I thought it was a lighter, shorter and slightly early period but now I'm 15 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow.

Defo looks positive to me, get some first response tests too.

I bled for three days bright red blood that needed pads when I got my very first super faint positive. It eventually stopped and the tests got darker and darker. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. I’ve called the doctors who didn’t seem concerned - they just booked my first midwife appointment in a months time. I bought a Clearblue on the way home from work and it’s showing as 1-2 weeks which would be right. Hoping and praying everything’s ok after the bleeding. I will continue to test and hope the line gets darker. I may also book in for an early scan, has anyone done this?

thanks again for the help this community is nothing short of amazing and really puts my mind at ease.

Yes I booked a private scan at 6+3 because of the bleeding which measured 5+5 and showed a heart beat 😊

Hope everything works out!

Amazing thank you @Sagittarius25 - you too! And congratulations for when the time comes!

Congratulations 🎉 I don't think there's point to test more. You clearly pregnant. I had two private scans before NHS ones started just to put my mind in ease as I mc the previous pregnancy. If you do just search and see what options you have in your town as some of the private clinics are crap.

Indreams21 · 13/10/2023 07:42

Congratulations!

I also bled at the exact time of my period for 4/5 days so didn't actually test for another 2 weeks when I started getting pregnancy symptoms. I had spent week 5 drinking and doing all things pregnant women shouldn't do 😅 I had a private scan at about 7 or 8 weeks which showed everything was fine and currently half way through my pregnancy. Fingers crossed you just had a heavier implantation bleed.

MrsJ6921 · 13/10/2023 08:45

I had a similar experience (minus the shots 🤣). I was due on my period on a Monday whilst working away from home - we had been TTC for over 18 months so by this point I’d actually not thought about it too much and there was only once chance where we could’ve got pregnant that month.

Anyway, my period hadn’t started but on the Friday I had what I now know to be implantation bleeding and like you stuck a tampon in and got on with my day. By the next day I had nothing. Fast forward to the following Monday I finally decided to do a test and it was as positive as positive can be and also got 3+ on a clear blue digital.

I’m now 28 weeks 😊

Thanks ladies! Nice to know we’re in the same boat with the doing things pregnant people shouldn’t do 😂 but I guess how were we to know! I’ve got an early scan booked in so counting down the days to that. So glad everything worked out for you guys!! 🫶

Just an update for anyone coming back to this thread - I have since had more bleeding so have had my hcg levels checked and 2 scans. Yesterday showed sac, yolk and fetal pole / heartbeat thank goodness. Hcg levels are rising and I have a hematoma and cervical erosion which is likely causing the bleeding. So I guess not all bleeding is a huge cause for concern. They said the hematoma should come away and I’ll bleed or it’ll be absorbed into my body.
