Maternity Stores in London - help please!

Hi,
I'm planning to do a big shopping spree in London tomorrow to get a bunch of maternity gear as am getting far too big to fit in my ordinary clothes, but I'm not too sure where to go.

I don't really want to go all over London and would love to stick to just a couple of places (e.g. Oxford/regent st) if poss.

Can anyone recommend stores to check out in the area?

Also - its maternity on a budget, so any recommendations of cheaper stores would also be welcomed.

Thanks!

H&M

H and M branch near Bond St tube (but not Ox Circus). Maybe try Next? Dorothy Perkins can be good too but best phone branch first to see if they stock mat. clothes.

If you stay in the Oxford Circus, Oxford Street, Regent St area you can do Top Shop, H&M and the big Gap shop near Selfridges. It's maternity wear is really nice - I nearly bought some by mistake the other day..!

M&s has some new ltd collection maternity stuff too - you may find it iin the marble arch branch, not too far from oxf circus. i think there's a newish mamas and papas shop on regent st but not sure if they have maternity clothes or just prams etc

nancy75 · 07/03/2008 18:15

there is a great big mamas & papas on regent street

luvaduck · 07/03/2008 18:17

mamas and papas

fluffyneedssomesleep · 07/03/2008 18:26

If you start at Oxford Circus and walk up towards Marble Arch (which is only a 10 min walk if you're not stopping at every shop on the way ) then you've got the following:

Benetton on Oxford Circus(small range but really good)
H&M by Oxford Circus
Topshop on Oxford Circus(excellent)
Zara
Dorothy Perkins (about two hundred yards up Regent St towards Marble Arch, just past Bond St station - has a really good range)
Gap (next to Selfridges)
M&S at Marble Arch (really good)
Next at Marble Arch

There's also Mamas and Papas - nice stuff, not too expensive, not sure where on Regent St they are tho.

Good luck - have fun!

mamas and papas right by oxford circus - opposite to H&M

poppy34 · 07/03/2008 20:04

and there is a mothercare opposite M&S at marble arch too I think

pregnancy1 · 07/03/2008 20:17

Oh, I went maternity shopping in that area last weekend and found it a bit hit and miss. Topshop was good. H&M Oxford St don't have any and sent me to the bond st one which didn't have any (whilst they are being renovated) so I went to the one on regent street which was great. M&S was terrible - only had tracksuit-type stuff, but it could have been becuase I was there on a Sunday. Debenhams had a small Red Herring range, but Selfridges, House of Fraser and John Lewis don't have anything. Mamas and Papas and Gap looked good, but I am too tall for any of their trousers. Hope this saves your feet as I walked for miles!

tbh I agree with pregnancy1 -had moderately succeesful trip and ended up doing most of it online.

luvaduck · 07/03/2008 20:28

you get 10% off jojo and blooming marvellous through mumsnet for online orders

lollipopmother · 07/03/2008 21:13

M&S at Marble Arch is pretty pants to be honest, there's a couple of things but nothing to warrant making a trip there specifically.

Celbeck01 · 08/03/2008 08:05

I think M&S maternity is rubbish everywhere - Bluewater stock was ideal for 60 year olds with no sense of style or taste! V disappointing.

NobbyD · 08/03/2008 09:45

Heading off to London now for the clothes.
Thanks so much everyone for the great advice. Will let you know how I get on!
