Hi everyone im 32 weeks pregnant and still havnt got my csection date
They told me I would be having a csection after 2 failed inductions turned into 2 emergency c scetions
I have an appointment on Friday I'll be 32+5 then do you think they will give me the date I need to know to sort family to mind my other 2 children
I was also curious if I was to go into labour before my cscetion would they let me give birth natural or would it be another emergency csection I havnt been told much and at my last growth scan it was as quick they could get you in and out

All advice be great tia

It seems to vary from one hoapital to the next. I was told to call at 37 weeks pregnant and was given a tentative date at 39+6. I'm now 38+3 and it has not yet been confirmed. It is very unhelpful for sorting care for other children.

I have an appointment at 36 weeks where I’ll be told my section date. I don’t think anyone is told as early as 32/33 weeks. I’ve heard it’s usually a couple of weeks beforehand x

I got my date from the midwife around 25 weeks but didn’t get the official text until 30 weeks. I’d definitely chase it up.

At about 36 weeks

Remember you could be bumped to the next day if they have lots of emergencies.

I got both my c section dates at around 28 weeks, and that was at two different hospitals.

Officially, they told me they confirm it a couple of weeks beforehand, but both times I simply explained that I need to plan work, handover, etc so they booked me in there and then both times.

I got my date at 37+5 and it was for 39+5

mintich · 11/10/2023 12:24

Was given my date at 37 weeks both times.

Yes second what PP has said, it varies from hospital to hospital. The trust I work for will confirm the date at 36 weeks, but tell women beforehand it will be around the 39 week mark (unless there is a reason to be earlier). Not helpful for childcare but at all but I suppose women that end up in spontaneous labour do not get to plan that ahead. The other thing is that even your elective date can be pushed back if on the day they have too many emergencies so there does need to be a degree of flexibility with it, although the team will do their utmost to prevent that from happening.

If you went into labour before your c section date you will be given a choice to go natural or for a c section, things to take into account though are how far you have progressed and what other women are needing to go to theatre. This is for emergency procedures, you would be prioritised over an elective booked that day.

I think it depends on the reason/ the hospital. I was told 2 weeks before my due date that I would ‘likely’ have mine that next week but ended up having a next day section as my blood pressure was staying around 160/100.

They told me that they make space for emergency c sections & people booked in for c sections who go into Labour. So likely if you went into the hospital in then you would have a c section.

I got my date for elective c-section yesterday and I’m 20 weeks - was very surprised, it’s odd knowing my daughters (probable) birthday already! I was expecting to book it at 36 weeks 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bunny2021 · 11/10/2023 14:06

My trust are currently working on one week notice.

PickledScrump · 11/10/2023 15:09

Wouldn’t expect it until at least 36 weeks. Even then be prepared for it to change if they have a lot of emergencies.
