Prams and Mini Coopers

Has anyone got a Mini Cooper with a newborn? If so, what pram/travel system do you have?

Just trying to work out what will fit in my boot as we're looking at buying a second hand pram this time round

Following as I have a Mini too and I don’t want to get rid of it! @crumblylancs I think I have read a bugaboo bee would fit if you’re buying second hand?

This reminds me of my first born and my mini in 1982! A full size pram with detachable body, folding chassis and removable wheels. Manhandled the pram top with untethered baby onto the back seat trough the front passenger door ( 3 door car) rammed the chassis and wheels in the boot and off I went for my first outing. Drove to the top of a multi-storey, reassembled pram only to find the lift was out of order. Reversed the process and went home!
Seriously though, I did fit a folded stroller easily in the boot and could fit 2 toddler car seats in the back. It’s tricky without back doors though.
sorry to derail your thread but when ever I hear the word mini, I’m reminded of this!

This is my issue I don't want to get rid of the car, my OH on the other hand is mithering me to do so which I know makes sense 😅 but it's also an additional cost right on top of going on may leave which I could defo do without!

I'll have a look at the bugaboo

I didn’t have a mini but had a small ford KA and we bought the cosatto wow continental which is small boot approved :)
It fit in our car perfectly but when baby was here i was fed up of only the pram fitting in the boot so we changed and got a bigger car 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

@crumblylancs the other thing I’m worried about is how I’m going to get baby in and out of the back, as it’s quite tight with the seat moving forward! DH thinks we should get a new car but like you, I don’t really want the extra expense.

I used to be able to get an iCandy Cherry in the boot with the parcel shelf off easily.

There are now quite a few compact buggies on the market, so hopefully you'll have a better choice.

We have a Cosatto Giggle 3 (5 door 2017 mini)

BubblyBubbler · 11/10/2023 16:24

I had a 3 door mini and a baby jogger city mini gt2 (we live rurally so need a substantial pram for countryside walks). Managed to have two kids in it until my eldest was nearly 3. I had a spin car seat in the front passenger seat (with airbag disabled) for the baby and a forward facing seat behind the drivers seat for my eldest. I’ll have the baby in a sling and my eldest in the pram, or have the baby in the pram and eldest on the buggy board when she got bigger.

I don’t have a mini but I do have a Fiat 500 that I bought brand new the month before I fell pregnant 🤣. We’ve bought the Oyster 3 which fits perfectly.

Thanks all for the suggestions! I'll be looking at them in the hopes of not needing a new car quite yet 😅

This is my concern too!

@BubblyBubbler i thought I read that it’s not ideal to have baby in the front seat with the airbag off, in case it malfunctions and does go off? Have you ever tried getting the seat in the back?

dramallamamx · 12/10/2023 17:36

You will get a bugaboo bee or a baby zen yo-yo in there easily.

Freshstart78 · 12/10/2023 17:43

Had a paceman Cooper and the big bugaboo Bugaboo fox fits alongside the nuna Iso detachable travel seat. There’s no way you can get baby in without having the detachable unless you have back doors.

I lasted a year and a half before I ordered a new car. Which to be fair is a long time! But the car knew we were talking about it and decided to have a moment. So we have had to spend loads on it and we are getting less for than we would have a year ago.

Using a clubman atm. Beautiful car but the boot is the smallest mini boot I have seen. JUST fits the Bugaboo fox. Has 4 doors which is bliss!

We went for a Volvo xc40 and really excited about it. Huge boot AND 4 doors 🥳
Will be getting a Bugaboo butterfly though as want the one hand fold. That would fit in any car. It’s titchy when compacted.

No it’s not the best. But with a 3 door I can’t have the baby forward facing in the back seat as he was too young to forward face
