Hi all,

Abit frustrated Confused

Had my first sweep on Sunday, thought it kicked started things as cramps started straight away & some light bleeding.. went to bed with bad cramps and have been having them on and off for the past two days.

I am booked in for another sweep tomorrow but just curious if anyone else has been in this situation and is the second one likely to help even more?

This is my first pregnancy.

Thank you Grin

Dont let them pressurise you into induction. I was 42 +3 in my third pregnancy. So long as you’re ok and having regular checks. There’s an obsession with induction in the UK and it’s much more likely to lead to intervention in labour. It’s a blanket policy that takes no account of individual circumstances.

I also wouldn’t bother with the sweep.

I had 4 sweeps and ended up with an induction at 42 weeks (1st baby also). The induction wasn't pleasant and I would avoid it if I could! Good luck!

Oh I massively sympathise, I am 41 weeks today. This last week has seemed slower than the rest of the pregnancy.

This is my third, my first was born at 42 weeks, second 41+ 3. I had so many sweeps with both and they did nothing but cause false cramps, so I have declined them this time around. They only work if you are on the cusp of going into labour naturally.

I agree with@Notellinganyone I had DS1 10 years ago and there was next to no pressure to induce. With this one the pressure is unreal, I have really had to stand my ground. I'm not worried about going over, it's obviously my normal!

Fingers crossed we aren't waiting much longer!

Hi all, thank you for the replies!

I've heard so many bad things about induction, I cannot stand the thought of it.
It never seems pleasant and seems to always end up longer or result in a C section!!

I was happy to have a sweep as it's not medical intervention... but really debating just letting my body do its job..

The cramps since my sweep have confused me as nothing is happening so why is my body feeling this way Hmm x

I had 2 sweeps booked in for a 3rd at 41+4 but ended up going into labour the day before it x

I had an induction at 40 plus 13 days with dd2. No greyness about dates either. It took ages for the drip to kick in, but when it did, my labour was over and done within an hour and a half. Dd1 was an elective CS so had no idea what to expect. It all worked out fine in the end, though.
