Inhaled smoke from kitchen fire

Hi all

I am 33 weeks pregnant and unfortunately had a fire in the kitchen this morning. We have a fire extinguisher/fire blanket however when I opened the kitchen door to try to use these the smoke was so thick and it was difficult to breathe/see

The firemen came out and used their fans to get rid of the smoke. Since then i've been coughing but I know that's to be expected. Just wondering if I need to be concerned about the baby? I'm not one to worry easily but this did cross my mind just a few mins ago

Sorry to hear that, hope everyone and everyone is okay. Regardless of pregnancy I would get checked out at the hospital for smoke inhalation but especially so as you are pregnant x

Thank you @Goblet93 luckily it was just me at home! Was very grateful for the fire services coming out quickly. I will get checked out just to be safe, thank you x

Fire inhalation can be dangerous FOR YOU. Get it checked out.
Whether baby is ok, at this point, is irrelevant IYKWIM. Because if you are not ok, then baby is definitely not ok!

Hope it all turns out as just a bit of a scare, both for you and the baby!!

How you doing @Blueskies975 ?

Blueskies975 · 11/10/2023 11:34

Hi @Goblet93 thank goodness everything was fine with me and the baby after the smoke/fire incident. While I was there, they did find some glucose in a sample I provided them which was completely unrelated to why I went in so just waiting on results after providing some more blood. Wouldn't have known if I didn't go in! Thank you for checking in!! And thank you @ASGIRC 😀😀 no more after effects either now, the sore throat has gone luckily x

So glad to hear it, hopefully the glucose is nothing but at the very least it’s getting checked out x
