My dil is 9 weeks pregnant. Yesterday she started bleeding. Took her to hospital and tested her urine and said its a water infection. I was elated but overnight shes started bleeding more .is this the start of a miscarriage. Not see her epa as under 20 weeks and gynecology dont open till 9

Back to the hospital.

Any bleeding needs to be investigated, so she will need to go back to the hospital. You can usually go through A&E or emergency triage at any time of day and they will get her to the right department.

Unfortunately it's hard to say at this point if it is a miscarriage or sometimes it just happens for some women and things progress as normal. I really hope she and baby are okay.

Let us know how you get on. GP should make a referral to early pregnancy for a scan to see what is going on, make sure not ectopic etc.

It could end up being nothing, particularly if the bleeding is painless (no cramps etc). Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

Honestly A&E so pointless I sat there for 7 hours and then left. Unless she’s really unwell, they can’t do anything. Best to contact GP or midwife for a EPU referral

OP I have an almost identical photo of bleeding I experienced at 9 weeks. I'd had an early scan that day and they said they could see implantation bleeding on it & that it might come free at some point. Of course it was very frightening when it happened!

I had one bright red bleed like that and then brown spotting constantly until about 12 weeks. Everything was fine and my DD is now three.

Please get it checked out and of course it might not be good news but when it happened to me the GP said about 1 in 3 women experience some bleeding in pregnancy. Hope everything goes okay for your DIL.

Hi @Mamarb
I had the heaviest bleed ever at 8 weeks but all was ok. I know it's so difficult but please try not to worry and i hope everything will be ok xx
