Hi

I am just wondering what actually happens here when you go into labour? I have the emergency number to call to let them know you are on your way, so then is it just a case of get to the hospital and then they lead the way or what?

As you can probably tell, I didn't go to the antenatal classes so I don't know what I am doing now. Stupid I know but there you go...

Thanks for any advice on this one.

hi don't know about that particular hospital but i rang up as soon as my waters broke with my 1st and i went in cos i was bricking it!!!

Called the number and they told me to come in and i was admitted simple as that

they examine you to see how far you are dilated and then take it from there,

hopefully someone from you area will know more

good luck

Hi

I am due to give birth at the PRM in a few weeks. There is an emergency entrance which we are to use - it's on Wishart Street and sign posted from Alexandra Parade. Once you get in there, there is a buzzer/intercom thing which links you to the midwives, who will be expecting you as you have phoned and will let you in!

Hope this helps and wishing you a lovely birth!
xx

Hi LouMoose Thanks very much for the info and the birth wishes!!! Hoping it will be any day now - I just wanna get this baby out into the big bad world. The waiting and waddling/discomfort/contractions disappearing just when you think "this is it!!!" is getting unbearable!

Did you go to the antenatal classes then or are yours still ongoing? Hope I didn't miss anything too essential but I have the info booklet telling you what to bring n all that so I just hope they don't get too p!ssed off that I never went!!!

Best of luck to you too!!! Hope it all goes well

Sorry - Thanks to you too gem1981 - was really kind of you to reply. I am sure I won't be able to hold out the second I realise I am in labour and will end up to and fro to the hospital so I will soon know exactly what I am meant to do when the real thing happens!!! lol

Hi Paranoid1stTimer

Don't worry - the classes were good, but mainly because of the chance to meet other pregnant ladies and compare symptoms and bumps! You didn't miss anything vital info-wise
