OVULATING TWICE? IS THIS POSSIBLE??

Hi ladies, can someone please help me understand this. I did a clear blue ovulation test on the 24th September as I felt very wet down there and it showed a peak fertility Smiley face so we went ham on baby dancing. Today (7dpo) I took a pregnancy test which was a BFN (I know It’s early) but also took another digital ovulation test which showed HIGH fertility (blinking smiley face). Has this happened to anyone and is anyone able to give me advice please!!? Im going mad

Hey ! Sometimes LH can Surge again after you ovulated when your progesterone starts to drop just a few days before your period is about to begin it doesn’t necessarily mean your going to ovulate again it just happens sometimes before period starts or hopefully for you you get your positive pregnancy test ❤️!! It happened to me so many times and now I’m 30 Weeks 👌🏼 also it could mean your body tried to ovulate the first time but it didn’t and it could be trying again ?? to be safe I’d keep testing and keep baby dancing !! sending baby dust !! Xx

Cynthiaparker · 03/10/2023 15:59

Thank you so much!! It’s my first time trying so I’m super new to all of this! I hope I can get my positive soon!

Yes, and it's how you get fraternal twins

Pmd1 · 03/10/2023 21:34

Yes it can..Opks can also be way off when ovulation actually happens. They record peak.

Allaboard209 · 04/10/2023 15:32

Non identical twins are made this way!

Charming81 · 04/10/2023 15:57

No, you can't ovulate twice in one cycle. You can release 2 eggs, but not after a week from one another. LH level can fluctuate a lot in the cycle. There is no way to know for a few more days. I hope you get your positive test 🤞🏻

HappyAsASandboy · 04/10/2023 18:26

This is NOT how fraternal twins are made!

Fraternal twins happen when two eggs are released at the same time and fertilised at the same time.

Fraternal twins happen when two eggs are released at the same time and fertilised at the same time.

Only one ovulation can happen per cycle. You can, however, ovulate two (or more) eggs at the same time. When this happens, there is the potential to conceive fraternal (non-identical) twins if both eggs are fertilized. But having two separate eggs released at different times within the same cycle doesn't happe

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 05/10/2023 07:59

I disagree, you can ovulate more than once definitely.

I do. Not every month, about 3 times a year.

my lovely twins are the result. 5/6 days between them on scans.

Charming81 · 05/10/2023 08:22

It is not really a matter of disagree, it is not possible. You can have a double ovulation, but it happens at the same time. It can't happen after a week. Fraternal twins happen because some women release 2 eggs

Charming81 · 05/10/2023 08:25

Babies don't grow exactly the same and the scan machine measurements are just an indication. I've had ivf so I know exactly when my baby was conceived. At the first 2 scans he was 4 days "younger" now he is almost a week "older". Obviously that is not the true since we know how may weeks old he is, but if we had to believe the scan measurements also my due date would change (but it is not the truth).

HappyAsASandboy · 05/10/2023 08:27

@flutterby1 that's exactly what I said! Fraternal twins occur when two eggs are released at the same time and both are fertilised!

Cynthiaparker · 05/10/2023 19:18

Hey all, I’ve just done a test at 9 dpo and this is what has come up.. I really can’t tell since the line is so faint! It’s really hard to tell. Can someone please advise? Xx

It's positive. First Response is the best test ever. If you see a line, it's because you're pregnant ❤️

Cynthiaparker · 05/10/2023 19:51

Really!? I’ll test again to see if the line gets darker but I’m still so skeptical since it’s super difficult to see with your naked eye

Test with first morning urine since you are not late yet. Good luck!

bellemccarthy · 05/10/2023 22:18

I see the line test keep testing and hopefully you will get your dark positive soon ❤️🤞🏼 sending baby dust !!!

Cynthiaparker · 06/10/2023 07:32

Hey all I just did an ovulation test this morning and it is now showing me peak fertility? My discharge is slippery, egg white, almost transparent. Has anyone ever had this? How can it be possible to ovulate twice and get peak fertility?

OP posts:
hopefulmum46 · 06/10/2023 07:37

@Cynthiaparker have you done another pregnancy test with first morning urine? I think lh can be high in pregnancy so that might be the reason your test is showing high. Otherwise monitoring basal body temperature alongside ovulation tests can help to determine if you've ovulated (your temperature will rise by a few tenths of a degree a day or two after ovulation - so 2-3 days after the lh surge).

WineAndFireside · 06/10/2023 08:19

I can definitely see a line.

Pollywoddles · 06/10/2023 11:22

You should try temping, that will confirm ovulation and take away all this doubt. You may not have ovulated the first time and now your body is having another go or you’re having an LH surge. OPKs are only predictors, temperature is the conformation.

Cynthiaparker · 06/10/2023 17:29

Hi all,

Thank you so much everyone. I will start temping, I’ve never done it before so I’ll do a little learning beforehand. I did a clear blue (blue dye) test today and it showed negative. I spoke to my gynecologist and she did say it’s still fairly early to test and ovulating twice is rare but very possible. It’s called hyper ovulation.. she’s advised to do a test next Friday so fingers crossed. Also I’m baby dancing this weekend just incase I am ovulating again to be double sure!

updates to follow xx

HappyPurrrsday · 06/10/2023 18:44

For a FRER to be showing a line like that on DPO9 I would put money on that you’re pregnant.

blue dye test probably not as sensitive as the frer. Test again with a frer tomorrow and I’d be surprised if line isn’t slightly darker

Cynthiaparker · 06/10/2023 23:14

I tried using the clear blue (blue dye test) since I ran out of first response but it was an obvious negative :( I’ll wait a few more days to see if my period comes

Hey just an update! Sadly it was an indent line or evaporation line as all the other tests came out negative! :( I also ended up baby dancing loads when I had a second peak LH surge so in the two week wait period now! I notice a day after ovulation my BBT has gone up so I’m currently 2 dpo hoping I get my BFP soon xxx
