Due date/weeks confusion

Had my dating scan last Thursday and was told I was 12 weeks (was expecting 12+5 based off LMP) but she's given me a due date of 14th April which would have put me at only just 11 weeks.

I have no idea how far along I am now! Can anyone help please?

Due date usually changes a bit as baby grows, its all an estimate. And right now its so small that its essentially best guesses

14th April puts you at 12 weeks 1 day today

So why would the sonographer tell me 5 days ago that I was 12 weeks?

Did she say your were 12 weeka before she did the scan? As yeah 12 weeks and the due date doesn't match but it will change by your 20 week scan. I would just go off your LMP and an online calculator.

Have the done all the tests they needed to?

12 weeks or in your 12th week? A date of 14 April puts you at 11+4 on your scan date, which is in your 12th week.

And you said based on your LMP date you were already 12+5 so she would have gone by that until enough measurements were taken to amend it. It's all pretty flexible by a few days anyway.

She did the measurement then showed me on the screen it said 12 weeks, so I thought that meant I was measuring 12 weeks, making me 5 days behind LMP. After the scan was done, she came out with my notes and said due date was 14th April. It's only since being home that I've looked it up and got confused, otherwise I would have asked.

So on screen would have been pre-populated with your LMP date. Then after the scan the dates are changed because they've taken better measurements.

The date they tell you/add to your notes at your 12 week scan, based on the measurement of baby, is the only due date they will go on (even if it differs from the last period predicted date)

I'd call the hospital to clarify. They might have written the wrong date down. My hospital nearly did but the nurse said it out loud as she was typing it in so I was able to correct her. Probably doesn't really matter - how many babies come on their due date anyway?! But I know it's a bit concerning for you so I'd try to find out.

Your LMP was 1 July, making you 12+5 on the date of your scan. Hence it said 12 weeks on the screen, this was populated from your LMP. I don't think it gets updated on screen as they go through the measurements.

After scan and measurements we're completed the date was adjusted, as is normal. The date of 14 April makes you 11+4 in your scan date. So a reasonable sized change but not out of the ordinary.
