Anyone else confused about dates?

I thought I was in a good position to know when my baby would be due but I am totally confused.

The date of my last period was 31st December so that would give me a due date of 7th October. BUT in order for me to have become pregnant I would have to have ovulated early - either 6th January or 11th -- my boyfriend and live 200 miles apart so its easy to keep track of these things LOL - on January 8th I had ovulation pain so I am thinking it may have been then.

ANYWAY

My midwife didnt know that but she knew my last period date. She has given me a due date of October 1st, which is a week earlier than it should be AND she has said that I am 10 weeks and 3 days BUT I was going to do one of those baby ticker things and that said with that date it made me 9 weeks

Are you going to have a dating scan, that might clarify things? Also, those little sperms can live for up to 7 days you know so they may have been lurking in nooks and crannies waiting for the egg!

The ovulation bit isn't always reliable - just because you get the pain it doesn't necessarily follow that you ovulate at the same time, iyswim. Could have been before or after by quite a few days. The marvels and mysteries of the female body eh!

I am by my dates 33weeks, by scan dates 32wks and by the tape measure 34wks.

Its all hoopla to me, its gonna come when it comes.

Try not to worry too much. The baby rarely comes on your due date and as long as you have a rough idea then you can work round that!
i am - by my dates 9 days over at the moment, but because i don't want to be induced i have persuaded my consultant that we should go by their dates, which means i am only now 4 days over - hence giving me more time to allow nature to take its course!!! cunning huh....

Wait for your dating scan, if you are having one(12 weeks ish) then take it from there!

Not sure if this will help but when I had DS I had 31 December as the date of my last period (remembered cause it was Hogmanay!!) and our due date was 7th October.

But I agree, dating scan should sort it all out...good luck!

I am pretty sure I got pregnant on or after day 18 this time (am currently pg), even though I thought I ovulated earlier than that. The dating scan will give you some guidance, but I have been given 3 different dates for this baby ranging from 20th March to 1st April. It is very confusing, but at the end of the day, an EDD is only an estimate anyway, and most babies don't come on that day.

Your midwife appears to have made a mistake. Your due date based on LMP should be 6th Oct (2 days on from mine). Sex on 11th could have fertilised an egg from ovulation on 13th or 14th no problem.
