I’m currently two weeks post c-section, my bleeding seemed to have basically stopped end of last week for a few days. Then Sunday I had a sudden gush of blood which they said will be the scab falling off from the placenta where it was attached but then for the past two days I’ve still had some bleeding only light in my pad but it’s mainly when I wipe. Has this happened to anyone else? X

Hiya @flowers246

I had a c section 3 months ago and I found my bleeding fluctuated for quite a few weeks. I had bleeding on and off for around 4-5 weeks and it tailed off towards the end. I remember around 2-3 weeks when I thought the bleeding was easing that I experienced some gushes like you and was confused as to what was going on. Other than that I mainly only had blood when I wiped and very little on the pad.

Hope that gives you a little reassurance, obviously if you find your bleeding gets considerably heavy or you’re changing pads every hour or so I’d defo get checked out ☺️x

Ahhh it sounds very similar to you then! Thank you so much for the reassurance. My friend has recently experienced the same so I did think it would be normal. The gushes are awful aren’t they! Hope you’re feeling okay now and all healed x

No worries at all, the gushes aren’t fun at all! Thankfully recovered quickly from my c-section, hope you have a quick recovery too! Congratulations on your little one x

Make sure you're not doing too much, I got gushes when I walked too far or was too active doing housework. The wound needs to heal internally.

I bled for about six weeks off and on.

I think it's normal. I thought my bleeding was already finished, then it came back.

I had the same with my c section 6 years ago. My friend had said you’ll bleed for a while after so I was prepared. It was on and off for a good 5-6 weeks then just there when I wiped after a wee.

Do make sure you’re not doing too much lifting, exercise, strenuous activities though, this can cause damage & possibly those gushes.

good luck with your recovery hunny, massaging the scar is good for healing xx

Thank you! I wonder if it’s maybe because I’ve been going on some little 10 minute walks x

Thank you so much! It’s hard to sit still isn’t it once you’re feeling better! X

I seemed to bleed for ages, I can't remember for how long exactly, but i remember thinking 'when will this stop', it was definitely at least a couple of months. Very annoying and yes the gushes are awful, especially if you are out 🤦‍♀️
