Only 10 weeks not 12?

Hello, first post [waves].

I went for my nuchal translucency scan on Monday since I thought I was 12 weeks, and the sonographer said I was only about 10 weeks judging by the length of the fetus (have to go back in 2 weeks for another attempt at NT).

I'm a bit confused to be honest - first day of my LMP was 11 Dec, and then about 24th/25th (ie 14 days after that) I had what sounded exactly like a classic implantation bleed - pink and very light. But according to the scan I couldn't have conceived until more like 7th Jan. So if that wasn't an implantation bleed - what was it?! And just being generally paranoid - is there any reason the little bean might be too small at this stage? It was bouncing about and waving, so it looked ok, but I'm just a bit anxious... and a bit frustrated, it feels like I'm going backwards instead of forwards!

when did you get your BFP?

could the bleed on 24/25 dec have been a period?

InquisitiveMama · 05/03/2008 13:00

Suppose it could have been a period, but 14 days would be a really short cycle for me, and it was really light - hardly even stained a panty liner (sorry, TMI). Got BFP around 24th Jan - but I was sure I was already, I felt so peculiar!

it is possible that you had a short cycle. That would fit with the dates on the scan.

InquisitiveMama · 05/03/2008 13:08

Yeah, it would fit with the dates. How annoying that I was carefully charting my cycle - I even made a little spreadsheet (yes, I am a nerd), and then it goes and does something out of whack anyway!

My midwife used to say 'babies dont read textbooks' I suppose that extends to calendars and spreadsheets too! I am mum to DD 5 and DS 3.6 years and the little angels have not done ONE THING they are 'supposed to since we started trying for them! DD took 3 bloody years to get then DS took 3 and a half minutes to get!. Had periods all the way through for both of them then huge babies and quick labours. All the rules go out of the window. Your little bean will be fine - just has a mind of its own (must be a girl!) Good luck

When I went for my 12 week dating scan, I was just over 10 weeks. The female body is truly a mysterious thing!

xx

Mysterious indeed! And the bean definitely has a mind of it's own - certainly has very clear ideas about what it wants me to eat (or not)... DH is worried it'll be as stubborn as me and he'll never get anything his way ever again!

Thanks for the reassurance all.
