No fetal pole at 6 weeks - any stories?

I’m 6+4 according to LMP but I’d predicted more like 6 weeks according to ovulation - I ovulate on day 19 rather than 14. A scan yesterday showed a gestational sac and a yolk sac but no fetal pole. So between 5-6 weeks? (Gestational sac measured 11.2mm which online searching seems to suggest 5+6 weeks). I’ve got to have a rescan. Am beside myself with worry as I had an early miscarriage last month and I’m convinced it’s going to happen again. Does anyone have any similar stories? Scan pic attached.

Yes. He’s nearly 7, and just went to bed! The wait to rescan was the longest 10 days of my life!

Yep, I was 6+1 or something going by LMP, but 5+6 by ovulation. Gestational sac and yolk sac seen but no fetal pole. Went back 2 weeks later and there it was :)

If you had an abdominal scan ( just from the outside) it’s unlikely you’ll see a pole. A transverginal is more accurate in the early stages, but this involves having the probe inserted into your vagina to have a look.
When I was pregnant with DS I had an early scan, the sonographer knew me from fertility clinics so suggests a trans vaginal scan because I had had plenty done in the past. The pole was immediately visible and it was pulsing ( indicating heart was developing).

Thought I was 6 and 1 when went out turned out. I was only 5 and 5 there was gestational sac, yolk salk but no fetal pole. Was the longest wait but went back 2 weeks later and had a very healthy baby and heartbeat! Yours looks similar to my scan! Try not to worry.

Yep! I'm 13 weeks now, scan at 6+2, same as yours. 7 days later there it was!

Hi there I’m new to mums net so not sure if I’m posting correctly.
im 7 weeks 6 days pregnant after successful icsi 5 day egg transfer .
we’ve had 2 early scans at the hosp which show empty sac and yolk and no baby.
we have one more scan next tue but they have said they do not expect any change and sent me away with lots of miscarriage leaflet info so I can prepare .
I just wondered does anyone have any success stories where by the fetal pole would show as late as next week ( just over 8 weeks ). I know they calculate 2 weeks ahead so in my mind fro the date of the 5 day egg transfer I’m really 6 weeks . So I’m clutching at straws but soo desperate for some fragment of hope xx

Hey just wondering how you got on as im in a similar position?

Early scans are such a stress! And so inaccurate! I had bleeding in all my pregnancies so I always have early scans. With my first she was textbook, heartbeat and all at 6w 4 days. With both my sons at 6 w 4 d they were BLACK HOLES and told I was 5 weeks and to wait 2 weeks to be sure viable, I was sure on dates and therefore so stressed. With both of them I googled my brains out and convinced myself I was miss carrying. Lo and behold at 8 weeks scan measuring to the day with both sons! I ALWAYS bleed bang on 6 weeks hence all of them being same age on scans! Hope this helps and reassured you alittle. Unfortunately it’s just a waiting game until 12 weeks and I can remember I was so anxious. So I really hope these next few weeks go fast for you. X

I went for a ultrasound at 6 weeks due to early previous miscarriages, panic struck and I ended up paying £75 but on scan measured 5 weeks and 5 days, does this ultrasound look normal, gs and yolk sack but no fetal pole, got to go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound

@Kellyguri1 I can’t speak for what normal looks like because I’m not an expert but I can tell you that I’m currently breastfeeding the baby from this post. I went back for a second scan a week or two later and he was measuring right in track with a heart beat. My first scan was too early I think. He ended up being born one day before his due date. Sending love xx
