Reassurance for those with no pregnancy symptoms

Hi everyone,

Currently 9 weeks pregnant and after scrolling through Mumsnet trying to figure out if something is wrong because i’ve had no symptoms, i’ve just come back from a reassurance scan with my gynaecologist.

Just posting this for anyone who may come across this while searching like I did…

my scan showed a healthy heartbeat and perfect growth of the baby via ultrasound.

I have had absolutely no symptoms and got myself really worked up that it was a missed miscarriage. It is still so early and can’t predict the future but if anyone else is concerned and googling for answers, hopefully this story reassures you!

My consultant said that it really does depend on the person and theres no rhyme or reason for some people having severe symptoms and others not having any. If in doubt though, get checked out x

Honestly, enjoy it! You have the most important symptom of all - a healthy visible foetus with heartbeat, in the right place.
I know it's hard not to be nervous but enjoy not feeling rough and shattered for 3 months before you even show/can tell anyone/have had the NT scan.

I have a 26 year old and 24 year old who are proof that not having stereotypical pregnancy symptoms doesn't mean a bloody thing.

Currently 19 weeks and symptoms wise I was fine in the first trimester (still nothing terrible now) Yes tired but never sick and all the other things people mention like food aversions etc. Boobs fine.

I feel incredibly lucky now to have dodged it!

Thank you for sharing. This is so reassuring and I really needed to read this tonight x

That was me at 20 with my first - I had absolutely no symptoms. Not even a craving. A decade later and I’m getting symptoms plus things I didn’t know were symptoms.

I would rather have no symptoms, and I gave birth to a very healthy DD x

@Nosymptoms this really reassured me. I am 6+2 via IVF and have my viability scan on Thursday. However the uterus twinges have subsided today and now naturally thinking the worst. I haven’t had a thing other than tiredness and pulling pains but today the pulling sensations have not been present, naturally panicking as I’m sure so many others.

my question - can symptoms come and go from one day to the next? X

@Nosymptoms and how are you doing a month on?!

Nosymptoms · 23/10/2023 13:24

Hi @GCS34 glad to hear it’s reassured you. We also had IVF! Since i posted this, I did have on/off twinges (some of which took my breath away!) which had no pattern to them - I had nothing for days. Tiredness but no sickness or nausea at all and if it wasn’t for IVF, I would have no idea I’m pregnant. Also since the original post, I have had 2 more scans - one being the NHS. Baby growing exactly on track with strong heartbeat. Best of luck! X

@Nosymptoms Thank you for replying! That's great to hear you're progressing as you should and you're right on track, and nice to hear you're a fellow IVF'er. Was this a fresh or FET?
Yes that is reassuring RE the cramping. Last week I had some strong ones, whereas this past day or two, mild would be doing it justice. Had the odd feeling in my groin but nothing really.
I really hope you're omen and wishes are correct, and we'll have something reassuring on Thursday in our 7 week Viability Scan. x

@GCS34 this was a fresh transfer. My wife & I couldn’t believe our luck when we saw the flicker of the heartbeat! As my original post mentions, our gynaecologist said that some people experience 0 symptoms and some get them all… but it really is individual and doesn’t necessarily mean its good or bad. Please update on Thursday once you’ve had your scan x

@Nosymptoms awww that’s magical and I’m so thrilled for you both. Was this your first transfer? And was your 9 weeks scan your first one? Our first reassurance is at 7 - clinics vary so much - some do 6 weeks. I’m glad I waited for 7 weeks for mine so at least we should have an answer either way on Thursday. I just don’t know how I’ll feel if it’s not what I want although let’s be honest, I’m already expecting that based on my irrational anxiety!

im so pleased for you and your wife. What is your due date? Must be April time? X

Really needed to see this thread OP <3 thank you for sharing your story. I have my first early reassurance scan on Saturday and I'm feeling very anxious about it given the lack of symptoms. Really given me hope based on your story!
