Hi All,

I've been to EPU today, after my consultant requested an early scan after receiving my referral from my booking appointment. (Pre-term baby delivery and loss last year at 20 weeks)

I believe I am around 7 weeks (according to my Flo app)

My LMP started 1st August and on the 29th August, I had a digital BFP result 1-2 weeks. On the 5th Sept, BFP 2-3 weeks result.

The scan today showed a gestational sac and yolk sac, we saw it on the screen but no heartbeat and sonographer said I am measuring 5.5 weeks.

I've been called back for a scan on the 4th October to see if everything is progressing.

But I'm confused by these dates, has anyone had similar?

Is there any chance you ovulated late? The digital tests go from conception so you need to add a couple of weeks to them.

Potentially! I've never been particularly regular - but, if I add extra weeks to them that would put me further on not behind wouldn't it?

5th September digital at 2-3 weeks would only put you at 5 weeks ish. If you weren’t tracking hopefully you just ovulated later than you think! The LMP dating method only works if your cycle is regularly 28 days

Oh really? Ok, that helps I think. Thanks. I'll try and stay hopeful. Xx

Of there's no heartbeat just the egg sac you must be less than 7 weeks I would have thought

I was sent to EPU at what I thought was 6w5d. Discovered twins measuring 6w! I knew when I ovulated too as I was tracking so it was a shock. Fast forward to 12 week scan and babies are a week ahead so 2 days further ahead than I had thought even with tracking! It's normal to be off this early especially if you don't know when you ovulated. Congratulations!

I am in this exact same position. Referred for an early scan yesterday at what I believed was 6w+5 after a 20 week loss earlier this year. I was measuring 5w+2 with no heartbeat. I am pretty sure of my dates so at this minute I'm not holding onto much hope. I have to go back next week for another scan so I'm preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

I will keep my fingers crossed for us both and I am so sorry for your loss, I know just how painful it is 🤍

Big squeezy hugs to you!! Everything crossed for you too and sorry to hear about your loss earlier this year. I've been so tearful this afternoon/evening. I don't know how I'm going to wait 2 weeks, without spiralling into a dark hole. 💕 xxx

@QueeniePlumtree how was your appointment on 4th? I’m going through the same at the moment and just so anxious about it all. I only had quite mild symptoms (nausea and sore boobs) but they have also waned in the past week or so. Next scan in a week, trying to remain hopeful but feels like a repeat of a mmc i had a year ago.

SpinachandChocolate · 12/10/2023 07:41

Yes same. I don't understand why they dated thr baby as one week older than I thought and smaller than average if dates are by measurements.

Nevermind. I just hope I don't end up with induction for 'going over' my due date.
