33 weeks, got up had a sudden feeling of wet, checked and it was watery, clearish slight white tinge dischage, thought nothing off it. Went back bed for a bit, had sex with partner, only gentle, got up sorted my self out if you know what i mean. I got up made myself a cuppa suddenly ive got the same water discharge running down my legs. Not a gush just 3 or 4 drops running down both legs and had to wipe 3 times, then 10 mins layer it happend again but no where near as much. Also no pain or discomfort.

Mid wife isnt in today so i will ring MAU later.

Could it be because we had sex, has anybody had similar?

Hope all ok :-)

Bin85 · 20/09/2023 14:50

Please let us know how things go.
My waters went at 32 weeks and baby born same day.
You may be delaying as you are scared if so please get checked.

You definitely need to be seen as you're at high risk of infection even if this isn't 'go time'.

If anyone is reading this thread in future, if you have an unexplained fluid leak during pregnancy, get checked out and don't have sex until after you've received medical clearance for it. Having sex after waters break is not a good idea

Im not in the UK, but my pregnancy booklet says to go STRAIGHT to the emergency unit if theres any kind of liquid leakage.
Certainly not a case to go and have sex, and then post on MN about it!

Hmm
likeafireworkshow · 20/09/2023 15:02

How are you op?

housethatbuiltme · 20/09/2023 15:39

Do not panic from these responses, its FAR more likely to be vaginal fluid not your waters especially since you where 'turned on'.

Go get checked if you are worried but don't panic from the early posters responses.

whatamess100 · 20/09/2023 16:54

Just to clarify, i got up had a slight damp feeling, one wipe and it was gone & i wasn't turned on at that point i was making myself a cuppa and letting the dog out for a wee. I Went back to bed 15 mins and had se, stayed in bed 20 mins and about 30 mins after that when i was pottering the water started trickling. Theres no way i would have sex after the trickling that would of been horrible not to mention foolish.Just confirming that.

Im back from MAU, cervics is closed no leaking fluid, They said its likely sign of infection. I've had a swap and will hear back in a few days. I've got to wear a pad and monitor for any further fluid.

Thanks for all the replys, such a great community!

Glad everything ok, just keep an eye on it :-) little baby isn’t ready to come yet :-)

Barleycat · 20/09/2023 17:00

Did you have sex after waters started leaking? That makes infection more likely so definitely get seen

No. Cervix is closed

Cervix is closed doesnt mean waters aren't leaking. My waters broke on Sunday at 7am, my cervix was closed when contractions started at 3am Tues and she was born at 7am Tues

Oh gosh thats a worry, the doctor did an internal and made me cough she said nothing was coming out. I've got lower back ache and had it since about 15 mins after it started trickling the hospital didn't seem concerned.

Bells3032 · 20/09/2023 20:22

They prob knew the fluid wasn't amniotic. Whilst they have to wait for the results (mine took like an hour not sure why yours take days) they know what they're looking at - what it looks and smells like etc. A small trickle could just be some watery discharge. If they're not worried then I wouldn't be. If they were even remotely concerned they'd have admitted you

starlightmagic · 20/09/2023 20:25

I told midwife and consultants I’d been leaking for 3 days before they finally believed me, definitely keep an eye on it!

whatamess100 · 21/09/2023 07:07

So after it happened yesterday morning i started with lower back ache, had it all day. Woke up this morning feeling wet, one wipe and it was gone, back ache and period type pains. I'm just pottering around the house without knickers now and i feel all wet but its not running down my legs like y.day but ive had to wipe a few times and now ive out pants and a pad on.

Sorry if anyone is having breakfast lol

I would definitely go back to the MAU. Did they do the swab test for waters breaking? It doesn’t sound normal. I always think you can never go in too many times to be checked if something doesn’t seem right.

Morty12 · 21/09/2023 08:49

Period type pains are early contractions. I would definitely go back.

adriftabroad · 21/09/2023 08:59

Youre clearly going to have your baby. Go back.

Justgonefishing · 21/09/2023 09:02

is your baby moving normally? i posted earlier up about having had a "slow leak" so keep on eye on movements and try to rest up a bit whilst you get your swab results.

Period type pains are early contractions. I would definitely go back.

They aren't always. It's completely normal to have period pains during pregnancy and not be in labour.

@whatamess100 are you sure it's not your bladder leaking?

PandaChopChop · 21/09/2023 09:18

Go back to mau..get a second opinion x

Topseyt123 · 21/09/2023 09:30

Go back to the hospital and insist on staying. Don't be fobbed off.

This was exactly how things happened with my DD3 at 35 weeks. One doctor at the hospital did try to tell me that it would be my bladder leaking but I knew that was bollocks as it was definitely coming from my vagina.

I made clear that I wasn't happy to go home and was given a bed on an antenatal ward that night, still not feeling that they quite believed that there was an issue. They soon changed their tune though when the sudden huuuuuge flood came during the evening while I was there and it absolutely didn't stop!!

I'm not trying to frighten you, but they don't seem to be taking you seriously. This sudden flood could happen to you, as could sudden foetal distress and you need to be somewhere where it can be monitored and dealt with promptly. Even if you do have to push hard and stamp your feet for it.

It does sound like your waters are starting to leak. It needs to be taken seriously.

cocksstrideintheevening · 21/09/2023 09:33

Agree you need to go back, now.

FlowerTink · 21/09/2023 10:07

Another one echoing you need to go back, I had two prem babies, one at 32weeks, and it wasn't a flood when my waters went like you'd think it would be.

whatamess100 · 21/09/2023 11:42

I've started to feel nauseous on and off too but that may be stress related. Spoke to my own midwife told her i had a tiny tiny bit of yellowish mucus and shes done a referal for me to go back up! No more wetness it seems to be a morning thing. I'm packing a overnight bag just in case.

Thanks everyone x
