And were you right?

I know there's no science just interested to read your stories.

DD1 I just felt would be late, I think because I was feeling so well and had lots of energy very late into the pregnancy. She arrived at 41+6

I'm now 35 weeks with DD2 and I just feel like she'll be earlier than due date (or at least not as late as DD1!) But maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part because I feel like I've been hit by a bus and I don't want to face up to 7 more weeks of this!!

@Spottypineapple so with my first I was sure I would be early but I wasn’t I was 8 days over. I’m currently 39+3 with my second and I’m sure I’m going over. I’m truly fed up but I think I’ve accepted my children like staying in longer. Last time I had 3 sweeps and nothing helped in the end I had outpatient induction so very mild and could still have the water birth I wanted. I suspect this might go the same way even though I would love to experience spontaneous labour. Good luck with the rest of your journey I hope it’s sooner than the last!

PickledScrump · 19/09/2023 20:17

With my second I was absolutely convinced she’d be early, she was born 40+2

Ididivfama · 19/09/2023 20:19

With my first I believed my period based due date more than the dating scan as it was a week out. And yes it was more accurate (at least to when early labour started, not to when she was out!)

Current one I’m still pregnant. And I had ivf. And they still change the due date on scan! So I tend to go with the real date not the one they use on the scans.

LetMeEnfoldYou · 19/09/2023 20:19

Yes, she was due on the 18th but I knew she'd be born on the 10th, and she was.

TodayForTomorrow · 19/09/2023 20:21

With my first, I was sure I would go overdue and would need to be induced.

I went into labour at 37 weeks while I was still at work, the day before a huge event I had been leading on and building up to for months. I was sending emails from my postnatal bed trying to help out colleagues because I couldn't believe it had happened.

Everyone told me that my second would be a similar time if not sooner, but she came at 39 weeks just after Lockdown 1.0 started.

Dogon · 19/09/2023 20:24

No. No idea when it'd be until my waters broke. Thought possibly late because he was my first. Was 8 days early!

chillipod · 19/09/2023 20:31

Knew he'd be late, and 12 days late he was 😅

dressedforcomfort · 19/09/2023 20:33

Was having constant Braxton Hicks from 18 weeks onwards and belly dropped noticeably at about 36 weeks so was convinced DS wouldn't go to term. (My midwife friend agreed with me.)

DS born 2 weeks before due date.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/09/2023 20:33

I knew she'd be late. The MW saw me on my due date and said, "you're being very stoic" but I knew DD'd hang in there as long as she could and she did. Induction, then CS.

There were probably crampons embedded in my uterine wall.

bracemyselfagain · 19/09/2023 20:34

Just a gut feeling I'd go over - and I did.
This time around; I think I'll be slightly more on time.
But hey, who knows :)

biscuitcat · 19/09/2023 20:36

My first I was convinced he'd be two weeks over, but he arrived on his due date. Second I had a feeling the whole pregnancy he'd be early, and he was, at 38 weeks - so 50% correct!

plumtreebroke · 19/09/2023 20:37

Had no idea, arrived a week early, surprise!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 19/09/2023 20:40

I thought I’d be late but then I was probably influenced by reading how first babies usually are. This current pregnancy I think will be late also which is good as c-section is booked for day before due date and I’m not worried but I guess we’ll see

Bananaaa · 19/09/2023 20:44

I’ve never got it right 😂

Ds1 - I thought he’d come early and I ended up being induced at 40+3 due to reduced movements.

Ds2 - I thought he’d be early as he was enormous, my bump was huge and so heavy I couldn’t imagine making it to 40 weeks and he ended up staying until he was evicted at 41+3.

Ds3- Assumed he’d be late as I’d never gone into labour naturally and thought I just have late babies. Surprised the life out of me when I got off the sofa to go to bed at 38 weeks and my waters broke. Literally no warnings or twinges, nothing!

Heatherbell1978 · 19/09/2023 20:49

DD's due date given at the 20 wk scan was the anniversary of a significant life event for me. I said to DH that'll be the day she'll be born - her due date. And she was.

Ttcmumma · 19/09/2023 20:51

Was convinced my little one would be early for some reason and he was. He was due 15th June but came on the 3rd! He hasn't sat still since so makes sense he was in a rush since the womb🤣 (he's 5 now!)

autumnmakesmehappy · 19/09/2023 20:51

My son was born at exactly 37 weeks and honestly I was shell-shocked. DH had the day off so we spent the day going for gentle walks and had a nice lunch out. In the evening we watched a film and then as I was brushing my teeth before bed my waters broke. I was convinced I must have just wet myself as I had zero indication I was going to go into labour. Less than nine hours later I was sat up in a hospital bed having the most amazing cuddles with my first born 💕

muddlingthrou · 19/09/2023 20:59

I was totally convinced DD would be late. It turned out I wasn't quite as comfy a home as I thought I would be, and my waters went dramatically at 37+4 and she was here by 37+5. So I don't believe in those feelings anymore - babies do what they want!

lorisparkle · 19/09/2023 21:14

I thought ds2 would be early. He seemed really low and when I went in for a check they said they would book me an appointment near his due date but that they expected I would be in sooner. However as soon as I stopped work everything changed. He was eventually born by c section two weeks late!

hipposinacircle · 20/09/2023 07:32

I had a feeling both times. Was sure that DS1 would be late and that DS2 would be early.

Wrong on both counts!

ChloeN · 20/09/2023 08:08

I was convinced I would go overdue and need to be induced but she came 4 days early!

Spottypineapple · 20/09/2023 10:00

Haha, I enjoyed reading these thank you! it does seem that our motherly 'instincts' are more likely to be wrong about this!

I think I'll have to mentally prepare for another 42 weeker and then be pleasantly surprised if she comes before that

TheFluffiestCat · 20/09/2023 14:23

I could never remember her due date. Somehow it just wouldn't stick. I think part of me knew it was irrelevant. She arrived on her schedule, a month early.

Cakeorchocolate · 19/10/2023 22:22

Yes, both pregnancies.

Expected to be past 'due date', was 2 weeks after both times.

FlossTea · 19/10/2023 22:28

Yes, I definitely had a feeling my son would be early but he exceeded my expectations! For some reason I was expecting him to be born around 36 weeks but he surprised me by arriving at 32.
