Hi everyone, I'm very early days (mid 5th week), but I have terrible bloating!
To the point that I wake up at 5am to go to the toilet because of the bloating pain.
Nothing really happens at the toilet apart from some air...

Did you have constipation? Any advice on how to manage it? I'm trying to eat a lot of veg the last few days but hasn't helped...

I started off with diarrhea and then a little later on it moved to constipation more into the second trimester. I know constipation is very common! For the bloating I did my usual thing of taking a couple of rennie which is fine to take in pregnancy and lots of fruit and veg for the constipation. Although I know you said you've been doing that. Lots of water too!

If you keep on being in loads of pain, is it worth calling your GP? I know it sounds weird because you wouldn't normally call the GP with bloating and constipation but pregnancy is a very weird time!

Plenty of fluid
Psyllium husk ( I was astonished at the amount I was sent with my antenatal vitamin package.)

Linseed
Oat bran
Ginger

Thank you very much!

I'll start with drinking more water, maybe that was it...
And psyllium husk, now that you mention it, a friend of mine swears by it!

Hi,
I and this from about 4-12 weeks. Part of it I think was to do with the change in my diet as I was eating things I normally wouldn’t due to feeling so sick. The best thing that worked for me was eating very little and often.

3 prunes a day.
They taste amazing like giant sour raisins.

Bloating was awful for me with my second and nothing worked to get it down. This time I was starting to get constipation and bought some activia yoghurts (just because they took my fancy one day) and they’ve definitely helped make everything more regular

Peppermint tea helped a lot with trapped wind for me in first trimester. I don't think you're supposed to have more than one more two a day, so I tended to have a ginger tea in the morning for nausea and a peppermint tea in the afternoon for wind.
