Hopefully will be my last question in this board, I was booked for an ELCS last Wednesday- this was put back to last Friday. In the few weeks running up I had built up a fair supply of colostrum, it hadn’t been easy for me and I was quite proud of myself as chances of me needing a blood transfusion are quite high and I’m worried my body will struggle immediately after birth. I’m quite anxious to make sure baby gets at least a bit of colostrum.
Went for my section on Friday, took all my syringes where they were refrigerated on the ward. C-section cancelled at 3:30 after a wait all day and naturally all the colostrum I’d collected has gone to waste. ðŸ˜
I felt really run down Friday after getting home and had little luck getting more. Same with today, trying massaging etc and doing a bit every hour or so and have managed to get hardly anything compared to what I had. A bit gutted so was wondering if anyone has any advice for increasing colostrum production on extremely short notice? I’m rebooked for Monday so only have tomorrow left.
If anyone has any tips (I’ve heard listening to babies cry can help?!) it would be very much appreciated. Have been trying hot baths and massages, staying hydrated etc. I know it isn’t essential to take colostrum into hospital but I have a feeling I’ll need it and that baby will benefit and just feel useless hardly getting anything ðŸ˜
