When do they give you the free dental paperwork?

I've got my first booking appt next week. Is that when I'll get paperwork relating to free dental care? I'm holding off getting a filling 😂

Im not in the Uk, so thngs might be different (but so far, they are pretty much the same!) and I did get my free dental paperwork at my booking appointment!

Hope you get yours then as well!

I got mine after my 16 week appointment, they will probably mention it at your booking in appointment

MrsRetriever · 14/09/2023 14:16

Between 26 and 20 weeks, I think.

you will probably have to pay for a filling anyway as they don’t do amalgam ones during pregnancy.

*16 and 20

My dentist did the white one for free because I was breastfeeding.

OP, I had to email and request mine because I never got it, so check at your appointment but you might need to chase.

At booking appt I had an email come through there and then as midwife applied for it. Don't get your hopes up though OP, if you're not already registered as an NHS patient then it's impossible to find space, in my area at least. Regardless of maternity exemption you still need to find a dentist taking NHS patients. 2 pregnancies now for me without being able to access the free dental care promised!

DuploTrain · 14/09/2023 14:22

Last time I think I got it around the same time I got my MatB1 form, which was after 20 weeks.

hdbs17 · 14/09/2023 14:25

I got my maternity exemption certificate via email at my 8 weeks booking.

Good luck to you if you already have an NHS dentist!

Hi @ElizRoz92
At my dentist i told them i just had my baby and they asked what date. They didn't ask for anything else and I was given a check up which i really needed and teeth cleaned for free xx

NewmummyJ · 14/09/2023 14:26

I just self certified at my practice as I've not booked in yet (only 6 weeks) and got it all for free! No paperwork required.

Snugglemonkey · 14/09/2023 14:36

I did not get paperwork. I just told them I was pregnant.

helloooitsmeee · 14/09/2023 14:45

I received my exemption certificate by email following my booking appointment, at 8 weeks.

Un7breakable · 14/09/2023 21:35

You can ask for it at booking in. I did.

PickledScrump · 14/09/2023 23:38

It’s by email now at booking appointment. Although unless you have an nhs dentist it won’t make a difference. No nhs dentists at all where I live anymore
