I've spent hours crying. I've had the call to say my scan was normal, babies fluid on the neck came back as normal but my blood tests showed high hcg and low papp a. I'm low risk for Edwards and patau syndrome but high for downs syndrome 1 in 16. I've got a nipt tomorrow. Anyone else similar and be okay? I'm heartbroken 💔

Thank you, the stress and worry of the wait is like nothing I've experienced before it's awful, I'm praying I'm in the 93% that's okay, my partner is feeling positive and I need to aswell for the sake of our baby xx

Sending best wishes, hope you're not left waiting too long to find out.

Mummyo1 · 20/09/2023 12:57

Its been a week tomorrow so average so far, trying to remain positive, I've seen the combined has a high false positive rate so although thankful for the nhs I'm praying for a good outcome. Thanks for all your comments so far and I will definitely update when my results are in💕

I hope you get good news soon. The wait must be agonising - hang in there.

Songbird74 · 20/09/2023 13:54

Hi Op, I had a 1 in 18 chance with my Dd as her nuchal fold measurement was so high (around 5mm if I remember correctly). She was born fine, with no issues. Hoping for good news for
you x

The waiting is torture. I like to think it's a priority and they're processed as fast as possible Hmm. You shouldn't be waiting for too much longer, I hope and the odds are in your favour.

Mummyo1 · 21/09/2023 15:17

Just had my call for my results, I burst into tears as she told me it was good news and I'm low risk for all 3! It's been one of the hardest weeks I've ever faced and I appreciate you all being there for me xx

A wonderful update OP- congrats!

For anyone unaware, those with a higher BMI should be taking the prescribed 5mg of folic acid, not the 400mcg you can buy over the counter. More than 10x the dose! Although not overweight for the entire 13yrs TTC, it was only mentioned during my very last round of IVF. No GP, gynae/IVF consultant ever mentioned it!

IcakethereforeIam · 21/09/2023 16:00

That's brilliant news. I'm so glad for you.

Mummyo1 · 21/09/2023 16:40

@SM4713 yes anyone with a high bmi should be on 5mg folic acid prescribed. I have been since 3 weeks, also a lot with low papp a aren't told to take asprin either x

So relieved for you!! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy now! :)

Glad to hear your results! Sorry people were shits. It’s easy to say they would continue with a pregnancy when they’ve not been through it.
