Quickening and movements 23 weeks

Hi all I’m looking for some advice and reassurance please.
currently 23w with 1st baby
quickening probably was first noticed and felt around 21weeks, and has been really quite sporadic since we noticed it with no real patterns at yet. I’ve read online and also spoke to a midwife who said some days I may feel bits and other days not whilst baby is still quite small and I just wondered if somebody can confirm this happened with them?

I’ve had no other symptoms to cause me concern other than barely feeling baby move today, I’m putting it down to her still having enough room to move pretty freely in there until she gets bigger!

any reassurance for a nervous first time mum would be much appreciated! Xx

Completely normal at 23 weeks, please don’t worry! It is unlikely that you will feel a proper pattern until much later. I’m nearly 33 weeks and I would say the past 2 weeks has been more of a regular pattern but before then (and due to a anterior placenta) is was very much hit and miss!

if you are ever worried though, please go and get checked

Yes it’s very normal at that stage. It can take up to 24 weeks to feel movement and movement will become regular around 28 weeks which is when midwives will ask you to keep an eye on movements.

I'm very similar to you @Skyplatypus in terms of timings and movement, didn't feel much at all until 21 weeks and it's been quite sporadic since with some mornings and evenings. I'm now 23 weeks, baby was very quiet over the weekend which worried me but today has been kicking lots throughout. So it's definitely still coming and going for me with not much pattern, tomorrow I might not feel much again.

Not much advice I'm afraid but just wanted to reassure you as someone in the same boat 😊
