Help - hyperemesis round 2

Hi everyone,

This may be short and sweet as I feel so dreadful but just looking for a few friendly faces/support/advice as I'm 6+1 and I can tell the good ol hyperemesis that pained me with DC1 is back again.

I've called 111 as I'm just crying in bed as I'm in total discomfort. I have already vomited repeatedly and am now struggling to keep water down. I'm beginning to contemplate if this is worth it - I can't take care of DC1 and besides my partner I have very limited support.

Any advice is SO welcome. X

I feel for you, HG stopped me from having my second baby, I just wasn't strong enough to get through it and have regretted it ever since. Was traumatic with my first.

However a few tips from the amazing woman on the hyperemesis Facebook group ( please join it if you haven't already).

Take one hour at a time , thinking ahead will overwhelm you.

Get regular fluids, if you aren't strong enough to advocate for yourself ask someone to do it for you.

Don't be scared of the meds they offer you, your mental state is important and I have a perfectly healthy 11 year old and was on 4 different meds.

Remind yourself that it won't last forever , the sickness will eventually go and you will be back to being you again.

Don't let it dictate how many children you have, don't let it beat you.

I'm so sorry your suffering Flowers I really do understand how awful it is xxx

@XMissPlacedX thank you so much for your words.

It's the most awful thing in the world isn't it? It defeated me last year in my bid for baby number 2 so I completely understand you there, and I'm so sorry.

It's not that you weren't strong enough, you just have to put yourself and your DC first and that's what you did. I'm feeling awful that my son has just watched TV all day whilst I've laid in bed sobbing and vomiting. He longs for a sibling but at the moment I just can't see how it would be beneficial given the circumstances.

I'll try my absolute best to stay in the moment - it's just all too tempting to go off on a hyperemesis hunt on the Internet to quickly remind myself of how long it can go on for.

I had hg with my first and used meds as I wasn't able to function. I'm now pregnant with my second and also 6 weeks pregnant and today I felt slightly nauseous. I'm praying this won't progress into a full 9 months of hg. Please speak to your gp and get meds. Good luck and I really feel for anyone who experiences this. Xx

How old is dc1? The younger they are the less chance of remembering it they will have. Have you been to the doctors yet as your mental health is so important, I found that I wasn't able to think straight when in the depths of HG Sad. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's awful and comforting at the same time to know others understand what we have been through xxx

It’s hard with HG do not feel bad for kiddo watching TV or whatever is needed to get through the day. I’ve just come out first trimester with second pregnancy & hg & felt awful that son’s summer holidays haven’t been to plan however he is 4 and I reminded myself he will remember the things we did manage to do over what we didn’t. I do hope it settles for you & it doesn’t last all pregnancy. Speak to your GP or go to the hospital for meds incase that will help with the HG.
