Baby’s head engaged early ?

hi ladies
I was told that baby’s head was really low in pelvis at a growth scan around 28 weeks and they weren’t able to get measurements of the head.
a week or so later I was in quite a bit of pain (what me and hubby actually thought was Labour ..) , called MAU who advised that it was probably baby’s head engaging and as I’m a FTM it can be really painful due to muscles being so tight.
The pain did go later on that night and we had a private scan at 31 weeks and told that baby’s head was still super low in the pelvis and they weren’t able to see anything.
im now just a bit concerned about what all this means? If baby is really low does it mean early Labour or is it just something that can happen in a first pregnancy??? … I have called to speak to a midwife but she’s not around until end of next week to call back, so just wondering everyone else’s stories ?

Baby’s head tends to engage sooner in a first pregnancy and also tends to stay there. It’s also very common for first babies to be born after their due date, there’s no correlation between early engagement and labour so do t worry about that. Good news is baby will likely stay there now so you don’t need to worry about breech
