Anterior placenta

Hi

I’ve been told I have an anterior placenta at my gender scan so I’m currently 16 weeks now.

I’m just looking for peoples experiences with one? I’m already quite nervous this pregnancy due to two losses previously and have been waiting out to be less stressed feeling the baby move.

I just wanted to know how people found baby’s movements could u still feel them a lot and when did you first feel movements

thankyou ☺️

I have an anterior placenta. Had my twenty week scan last week. Had no movement. Sonographer wasn't at all worried and said would be nearer to 23 weeks before I felt something. Felt movement the next day 😊

I had an anterior placenta with DS. I remember feeling some movements around 20-24 weeks. It was very sporadic but as he got bigger I had no problem getting to know his regular pattern of movements from about 25 weeks and always felt lots of movement daily from then 😊

I had an anterior placenta and felt first movements at around 18 weeks. I definitely felt strong kicks later on but honestly never was able to feel a pattern (which did worry me sometimes). So if I felt movement once a day I was happy with that as my “pattern”.
Other than that it didn’t cause me any other troubles in pregnancy.

I started feeling teeny tiny flutter from about 20 weeks. Once they get bigger there's no mistaking the movements despite anterior placenta so they not to worry too much x

I have anterior placenta. Baby #1.

Very slight movements started around 22 weeks but were very ad hoc. Could have a few one day then none for several days.

Wasn't until 28-30 weeks they were pretty much every day but still hours and hours with nothing.

Even now I only feel movements on my sides, never in the middle. I'm 36+4 now.

pinkpirlie · 29/08/2023 13:52

I also echo @TTCAbroad I have never had a "pattern" as such.

Felt tiny movements around 18 weeks. When bigger it was mostly around the sides or in my ribs! Not very much at the front and it was ages until my partner could feel them with his hand.

Alloveragain3 · 29/08/2023 14:07

I actually felt definite movement from as early as 14 weeks. It was on and off until about 20 weeks but had been daily since then. Now at 29 weeks there are sessions of strong movements at least 3 times a day and lots of little movements.

This is baby number 2 and placenta is anterior and low.

Thankyou everyone ❤️❤️

@Alloveragain3 thankyou this is my second pregnancy (i already have a daughter and had the losses inbetween with this current pregnancy) and I already swore I felt movement and then when she told me that I thought I was going mad haha so this is very reassuring thankyou 🫶🏼

I had anterior with my first and went to hospital a fair few times for monitoring of reduced movements. They were encouraging of me going every time and I never felt annoying.

I didn’t have anterior with my second and you do feel a lot more movements, I never needed to go to hospital with reduced movements with her!

Alloveragain3 · 29/08/2023 17:05

@Bc102 I know, I thought it was way too early but it was definite flutters!
I had a loss (MMC) before this pregnancy so I've been quite anxious throughout and I've been a bit stressed with movements (or lack of at times).
Totally different to my first pregnancy when I just assumed all would be fine.

In some ways, it was worse feeling kicks so early as there were a few days at 15-18 weeks when I felt hardly anything and I'd then panic a little, but baby had probably just moved somewhere.

TealDreams · 29/08/2023 17:12

Started to feel flutters around 18 weeks and now at 35 her movements are VIOLENT 😂🙈 I also had 2 losses so was very worried about it. I did go in to be checked around 27 weeks as I hadn't felt her and she was tucked behind the placenta, but overall it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would & now it makes no difference. X
