Bleeding at 9 weeks

I’ve read a load of similar threads before but just looking for some support really.

I’m 9 + 1 today and started with spotting yesterday. Today it is heavier- not enough to show on a pad but there every time I wipe. I’ve had no cramps or pain. I’ve called 111 and been given a scan for Thursday. This has just come as a bit of a curveball as we had a private scan last Sunday at 8 weeks and all was well- I even got to see a heartbeat! Trying to be rational but after two miscarriages earlier this year it’s hard. I’m scared to go to the toilet incase the bleeding is worse and waiting until Thursday currently seems impossible.

Anyone with a similar story?

Yes, I've had bleeding throughout my pregnancy, starting with something similar at around week 8 (mostly when I wiped, but a little on a pad as well) and then a proper period like bleed at nearly 9 weeks. It was terrifying and I thought I had a miscarriage. Scan showed nothing wrong with baby, and they couldn't find the source of the bleed. I'm now 16 weeks and still occasionally have spotting every 10 days or so.

I do but not a good one I'm afraid. Same as you but I was 11 weeks, I had really light spotting only when I wiped and proper 'dug' for it if you know what I mean. I went for a private scan and they told me baby died at 8 weeks and 3 days. I'd had a scan 3 days before at 8 weeks exactly and seen it's perfect little heartbeat. I really hope this isn't the case for you & im glad you've got a scan sorted. Please keep us updated on this

Thank you for your honest response and I’m sorry you had to go through this. I think the bleeding may be getting lighter but I know that doesn’t mean much. Thursday feels such a long way away!

Sorry you're experiencing this OP, I know how awful the wait feels. I've had mixed outcomes with bleeding in pregnancy.
My first two ended in miscarriage unfortunately after some spotting, but I also spotted with my DS and he was born at 41 weeks and is perfectly fine. I'm currently 15 weeks and this past week I've had on/off bright red spotting. Scan at the EPU showed all was okay last Thursday but it truly is a long waiting game to see how it all turns out and my heart goes out to you because I know it's not very nice being in that limbo period.
I hope your scan goes well and in the meantime I would recommend as much distraction as possible. Whether it be work, seeing friends or family, doing something nice with your partner or just doing some stuff at home that you enjoy like reading or bingeing something on TV x

Let us know how you get on after you scan on Thursday. I think if there's no pain, and particularly if it isn't turning into a full red bleed you're likely ok but I know it's very stressful and worrying. I also had an early loss before this pregnancy and it does make these things so much harder to deal with. Just hold on in there, one more day and you get to see baby again, after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks the odds are very much in your favour.

Just an update incase anyone wants to know. All is good! Baby is fine, looks like the bleed may have been caused by an area of ectropion on my cervix. The EPU staff today really were wonderful and thank you to those who contributed here.

Congratulations @Worrier04 !! So pleased to hear your baby arrived safely :)

I was 16w when I commented on this thread having had similar bleeding to you early on. In my case the bleeding continued on and off until after 20w. No cause was ever found and eventually it just stopped. Baby born was healthy at 38w 😁
