So had a positive pregnancy test and on 400mg of cyclogest 2x a day. Just feeling worried and wondering if anyone else is on the same

I was on the same as well as progesterone injections. It's quite common in a lot of pregnancies xx

Same as PP. Hated those damn pessaries! Always had to wear a liner with them!

Hollsy · 27/08/2023 21:37

Oh I'm so glad I'm not alone 🙈 just seems a lot and my mood swings are awful and along with sickness and tiredness I feel completely out of my body if that makes sense?
I have an amazing team of drs behind me and being scanned in a week and in contact with them constantly but just feel so out of sorts in myself xxx

I am on them 3x a day!!!! Its disgusting! Always sticky and greasy down there as well!

@Hollsy all IVF pregnancies are on progesterone, in one form or another (some on various, like the pessaries, plus injections, for instance), and peoplw with previous mc are usually put on progesterone as well.

It is pretty common!

I'm on them 3x per day, IVF pregnancy. I was on twice a day but had a bit of spotting so I was told to increase the dose. I believe I will be told to stop them at 12 weeks, so only 5 more weeks to go!

LacedBouquet · 28/08/2023 12:13

@hopefulmum46 how much did they increase yours to? I am on twice a day and also spotting

CR7 · 28/08/2023 12:41

I found I spotted twice and it was most probably down to the pessaries themselves they said. I was increased to three a day for a few weeks and then finished them totally at 12 weeks x

I'm pregnant following a IVF transfer, I had my body's own hormones but also took 2 x cyclogest and 1 x prontogest IM injection a day, I took the progesterone until 14 weeks, but because of low levels will continue one cyclogest until 28 weeks. For those having issue with cyclogest vaginally, you can use this rectally as well.

hopefulmum46 · 28/08/2023 15:45

@LacedBouquet They increased it from 2 to 3 X per day (400mg pessaries). I had a couple of beta hcg tests as well to make sure everything was okay. Not had any more spotting since. Itd speak to your clinic and see what they say

Persipan · 28/08/2023 15:49

Oh god, use them rectally! No mess, no faffing, and they won't irritate anything around your cervix/vagina so won't cause any spotting. Rectal all the way! (Signed, a veteran of lots of IVF.)

They also told me on the phone this morning the progesterone could be causing the bleeding @CR7 but I take them rectally so I’m not sure that would still cause bleeding?

That‘a good to know @hopefulmum46 ! I’m wondering if the 400mg twice a day for me is also not enough. Hard to know. For me it’s now an occasional drop of blood every few hours or so, this counts as spotting right regardless of the colour?

Previous losses completely takes the shine off this early stage 😫

Ah I see. I only took them vaginally so not sure then xx
