I neeeeeeed help. I have intense 🤰 cravings for crunchy ice. I found a tiny ice cube tray on Amazon, it’s ok but it can’t keep up with demand, I want to crunch all day. I’m even prepared to get a plug in machine if it makes the tiny crunchy ones?? HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPP

al I can find is machines that make smaller nugget things with a hole in, they’re not crunchy. I hope other people know what I mean by crunchy ice??

thank you

I went through bags of the crushed ice in the supermarket ice cream section for all my pregnancies Grin

Wrecked my teeth, and I don't know how my misophobic husband didn't kill me!

Ohmylovejune · 27/08/2023 19:21

Omg! I'm 56 and love ice!

Fraybentos23 · 27/08/2023 19:23

I did exactly this - got through pints and pints of the stuff. Then someone saw me crunching away and told me that a craving for ice is an indicator of anaemia. Sure enough my bloods showed I was low on iron. Possibly worth you getting checked?

bryceQ · 27/08/2023 19:23

I bought bags of ice from supermarket, sometimes the crushed ones, I was obsessed

HappyPurrrsday · 27/08/2023 19:34

Look it up, but I’m pretty sure it usually means you’re deficient in something, iron I think.

IaminRome · 27/08/2023 19:45

Oh that's so interesting. I was all about the ice, also anemic. Had no idea!

dementedpixie · 27/08/2023 19:46

Ice poles?

CuriousPorg · 27/08/2023 19:46

I think this is a sign of Pica. I'd get your iron levels checked.

buzzlightyearsgloves · 27/08/2023 19:46

This is me! Turns out I'm anaemic so might be worth getting checked!

StellaOlivetti · 27/08/2023 19:53

I had this exactly, both times I was pregnant. I know exactly what you mean by crunchy ice. I used to make lots of normal size ice cubes, then put them in a freezer bag and pound them with a rolling pin till they were crushed. Then eat it by the pint! It can be a sign of anaemia, but I was never anaemic so it can’t always be the case.

Hufflepods · 27/08/2023 19:57

It can be a sign of low iron but also ice is just lovely and refreshing when you’re pregnant. I also go through load of it. Don’t bother with a tiny ice cube tray, buy a massive bag of crushed ice instead!

WelshRach33 · 28/08/2023 18:42

Thanks guys, yeah been tested all fine. Did it last the whole pregnancy ? I feel like I can’t satisfy it 😵‍💫but I haven’t bought ready made ice, didn’t think of that! Where’s sells the little cubes, or everywhere does it?

My tesco sells crushed ice in bags

Feelingcrazy123 · 28/08/2023 19:09

I’m buying a bag a day at the minute!! 33 weeks pregnant and I can’t get enough,

we’re going away in the caravan for 3 nights tomorrow and I don’t know how I’m going to survive with out it 😭😂

Do you live near a Chinatown? Bingsoo is delicious! It's a shaved ice dessert that comes in many different flavours.

Exactly this for me.

Get a full iron profile as my haemoglobin turned out to be fine but my ferritin was 3 (should have been something like 300).
I ended up having an iron infusion via a drip and the midwife said she didn’t know how I was walking around.
