Hi my partner is an acupuncturist and gave me a treatment at 9pm the night before my due date using points that are contra indicated in pregnancy (to treat my insomnia). I went into labour 4 hours later ..it really worked for me..he has also had 100 % success rate with turning breech babies

massiveNEWpantsface · 29/02/2008 22:10

I didn't but my friend did. She was about a week late I think. She had acupunture one morning and the contractions started a few hours later. The labour was pretty fast and went smoothly. She gave birth about 12 hours after having the acupunture.

mamazee, thats good to hear. I am four days over and had a session this evening. Been having light Contractions for over an hour! Nice to hear a success!!

I did, at 10 days overdue. Wen't into labour exactly 24 hours later. it's obviously worth a try.

I had a session of acupuncture just before my ds was born, I got the first full night of sleep, that I had in weeks, after the session (no loo trips!) and my ds was born on his due date, I wasn't looking for labour to start, just wanted a session before my ds was born, loved it.

I had a very relaxed and easy hb.

good luck Jay

bless you Jay...it will come.
my DP says that if it has really slowed to a halt having another session (or do it yourself now) using points
-spleen 6
-large intestine 4
-liver 3
both sides of your body..you need to massage quite strong for bout 20 mins.

You can massage the points instead of using a needle if you can locate it (may be a point location site on line ??)obviously its better to go to a professional but it won't harm the baby even if you get the point wrong. If nothing it will kill an hour anyway !!

Alternatively you could just sit with a huge tub of ben and jerrys and watch more desperate housewives as you won't be able to much when the babe arrives

Good Luck

Jaysthird · 01/03/2008 11:17

ah right, i will have a look to see if i can find something! Thanks

I have already booked another session for Monday morning - secretly hoping i wouldn't have to go though!!

Have had a few BH with some cramping but nothing to talk about as such... time will tell i guess!

Thanks for your posts, nice to have an 'on-line' counselor!

Hello

I haven't had acupuncture but regularly see a reflexologist she always says she can help induce labor and gave me some tips on coping with labor pain. I have been early for last 2 so didn't need, however would see her if go overdue with this one.

Good luck

samja · 04/03/2008 11:19

I had 2 sessions before DD1. Was desperate to avoid induction. Also had membrane sweeps so not sure if it got me into labour.

The acupuncturist said it may speed up labour and I certainly think it did. 5.5 hours from 1st proper contraction. I had a brilliant labour. DD2 was also 5.5 hours so I reckon it did speed lthings up.

Good luck x

cazboldy · 04/03/2008 11:23

My bf did when she was four days overdue with her first, and ended up being induced at 11 days over, but tried again when overdue with her 2nd and went into labour 6 hours later.

I reckon it was a coincidence, but she was convinced!

cazboldy · 04/03/2008 11:25

sorry Jaysthird, didn't realise it was you who asked! any news yet? Good luck

Jaysthird · 04/03/2008 21:27

caz! Had third session tonight, a REALLY intense session, a lot more needles and a lot more 'activity'

Time will tell!

hi Jaysthird, I had acupuncture on the tuesday morning and gave birth wednesday evening (12 days late). I'll never know of course if it helped but as it cost about £40, I tell myself it did .
Good luck!

threestars · 05/03/2008 10:37

I had acupressure when I went over with DS. Didn't actually speed anything up, but it did make me stop stressing for a while and was lovely and calm...
