Hi im 15 nearly 16weeks i had to go doctors other day to check my BP as first visit was high but been fine the other 2 times I have been to doctors-They did say they are a bit worried about my height and sometimes small people may go in labour early, as the baby may run out fof room. The other day i saw on the computer my weight was so many stones but my ideak weight should be something else, i know i shouldn't be the weight i am, but the doctors or mifwife haven't said anything. I mean im not massive but im not tiny, well my tummy isnt either. Just wondering if anyone been in this situation and they are under 5ft and have gone in labour allot earlier or know people that have. Im due 19th august

I am 4ft 10 and both my babies were late!!
People kept asking my shoe size for some reason while I was pregnant(it is 3) and people expected me have c-sections but that didn't happen either.
I think people read too much into our stature and nature usually provides the right solution I think. please don't worry

motherinferior · 29/02/2008 20:39

I am 5ft with size 3 (OK, two and a half) feet. I've had two babies, one of whom was two days 'early' and one of whom was 16 days 'early'. Mind you, all the babies in my family seem to arrive ahead of their due date, so I tend to assume (with no foundation in research whatsoever) that it's more a genetic thing.

motherinferior · 29/02/2008 20:40

Oh, and neither of mine was a C-section and the second one was a home birth.

daisy26 · 29/02/2008 20:49

As my doctor said at 34weeks like to check me out and make sure the baby is growing properly and etc. I am a little worried that if im still at work where I look after 3 kids and i may get pains or go in labour, but im hoping to fine june so I should be fine

leonie...what weight was your baby if you dont mind me asking? i'm like you and the doctors are also predicting a whopper!

morningpaper · 29/02/2008 20:52

they don't run out of room - they just grow OUTWARDS

I'll see if I can find an example...

daisy26 · 29/02/2008 20:57

oh some say they need to come out as they can't grow anymore so they gotta come out

no but I have crepe paper where I used to have some sort of belly

and a kebab where I used to have

CarGirl · 29/02/2008 21:12

I'm 5ft size 2.75 feet and all 4 were late and ended up being induced and my 2nd was 10lb 6oz!!!! All natural deliveries and no instrumental help.

Lots of people kept asking if it were twins, I was absolutely huge as everything was out front!

morningpaper · 29/02/2008 21:12

that was at term

had another two weeks to go though

CarGirl · 29/02/2008 21:14

I too have lots of crepe paper!

fondant4000 · 29/02/2008 21:18

I am 5 foot, 7 stone. DD1 on time, dd2 12 days late. Both were about 8lb (around average weight)

My doctor (woman) told me not to listen to what they said at the hospital, that nature didn't give you babies you couldn't carry or give birth to. She also said that they just do their growing outside the womb if they are gonna be big children!

Don't worry - sounds like a load of nonsense to me. We're all different. I remember a friend of mine about 5' 7" with the most enormous child-bearing hips - had 2 em cs

fondant4000 · 29/02/2008 21:19

Hey I've got crepe paper to decorate the whole of christmas, no stretch marks though

morningpaper · 29/02/2008 21:21

aw fondant you are POCKET SIZED

let me lift you into this swing and give you a push

fondant4000 · 29/02/2008 21:24

Thanks mp, I enjoyed that 'specially as my feet don't touch the ground to push....

morningpaper · 29/02/2008 22:00

ok short ladies here's a question

do you find that it's really hard to go to the toilet when your feet don't touch the ground? It's a faffing palaver.

CarGirl · 29/02/2008 22:02

absolutely!!! We have an unusually high toilet in the family bathroom it's horrid!
