Hello!

I am 39+ 2 days pregnant - Last night was a very strange one, I went to bed & me and my partner did the deed (try get labour going) anyway fell asleep after, woke up needing wee like most nights, then got back into bed and this pain started coming on, every 20 mins, it felt like contractions, along with this was braxton hicks with the tightening, then after I'd say 2 hours - it stopped and I must of fell asleep! I honestly thought this was labour but nothing since?

What was happening do you think? Was all very weird!

I'd never been so excited to be in pain 😂 really thought was start of my labour!

The last week also I've been feeling very sick & bit of an upset stomach.

Thanks x

All signs it could be about to start. It can come and go for a bit and often starts at night

CornedBeef451 · 23/08/2023 15:12

It could be the start of it!

With DS I had pains 3 evenings in a row and in the third night they carried on and I finally had him. 41+2, I was very relieved!

emlouba · 23/08/2023 15:19

@randomusernam really hope so! Going to get back on my ball! Xx

Mine was 3 contractions in 10 minutes for 3 days. Early labour can be really long and sometimes v stop start. It's baby getting into position and your body having a warm up for birth.

Survivingmy3yearold · 23/08/2023 15:47

I had this lots with my 2nd. Hopefully it's just your body getting ready for the real thing, and latent early labour can take a while. If it keeps happening it could be something called Prodromal labour which might mean it takes a little longer before things start. It's nothing to worry about though and perfectly normal Smile

@Capitulatingpanda @Survivingmy3yearold
I'm hoping it's the start! Although nothing has happened today! Waiting for evening 😂 not long anyway to go now! You get impatient on this last bit don't you! Xx

You're near the end and all these niggles will definitely be helping but it could still carry on like this for weeks so my advice is try and keep active each day if you can but also get plenty of rest and sleep at night. When it happens it will happen so don't over think it if you can. I've had 4 babies and my last one was like this for weeks but once I was in labour it went like the clappers!

Survivingmy3yearold · 23/08/2023 16:14

@emlouba I was so impatient come the end! You're almost there though Smile

emlouba · 23/08/2023 16:35

@ZooMount yes in need to just go with flow! Wait and see! I think when that happened I was very excited as thought this is it!! But turnt out it wasn't lol - not long to go xxx

Not sure whether it does mean anything or not as I’ve not been in Labour before but I’m 37+4 and every night for last few weeks I wake up every few hours, go for a wee, get back into bed and have terrible Braxton hicks and back cramping. First few nights thought it was labour but for me it’s clearly not! I get BH all throughout day too and have done for months but the back pains only are there at night weirdly , means I dread the nights now as it’s so painful!

CornedBeef451 · 24/08/2023 14:27

@emlouba any progress? Fingers crossed for you.

emlouba · 24/08/2023 14:51

@Ljhunt mine has been exact same! I have had braxton hicks since about 28 weeks! But more now frequently! I'm so uncomfortable- just want to go into labour lol! Hurts to even turn over in the night! Xx

@emlouba oh no, my baby days are far behind me!

Mine are 15 and 12 now but I still remember how awful the last few weeks are!

I always think the last few weeks are so awful to make you get over the fear of giving birth. By the time mine came I just wanted them out of me!

emlouba · 24/08/2023 18:46

@CornedBeef451 yes I'm literally looking for any signs! I'm feeling very sicky tho and going off main meals like dinners 🤢 getting some cramping here and there! Just feel quite unwell today! I'm at my mums but when I get home I'm going to run myself a cool bath xxx

If you don't feel well please ask to be checked.

awfullytricky · 24/08/2023 21:32

Mine also in their 20s now and ALL arrived late (and have continued to do so 🤣) my only recommendation is (if you can bear it ) to DTD as often as you can manage....that'll make them want to leave 'home' ..

emlouba · 25/08/2023 07:23

@RandomMess yes I called my midwife about it and she said that it's all really good signs labour is ahead of me - I feel a bit better today though! It's so on/off xxx

emlouba · 25/08/2023 07:24

@awfullytricky haha yes I have a feeling this baby is going to be late! These last days are so exciting as you're looking for any sign it's coming 😂 makes you I'm getting impatient! Not long though ☺️ xx

@CornedBeef451 it was my labour after all! I had a little boy on my due date 🩵 I had pains all day long Sunday and then my waters went Sunday evening about 10, then I got to hospital and the rest broke, I had him at 3:43am! Then was discharged from
Hospital mid day Monday! Xxxx
