Convinced myself I’m pregnant… but bleeding and bfn

Hi all, I’m feeling so crazy right now, have had such strong symptoms over the past two weeks. Not TTC and could not cope with a baby, totally fear getting pregnant by accident. Did a few tests early which were bfn. Then started spotting 7 days before period was due, thought for sure it was implantation, so thought I’d wait to test again until a few days after. Spotted for 2 days then yesterday got heavier, but still not on pad. Today it’s more like usual period, have only changed my pad once though, and I have no pain… it may well get heavier and be more like normal period. Got a bfn just now. But I’m really struggling to believe I’m not pregnant. I don’t want to have a baby, couldn’t manage it at all, but my symptoms had me so convinced…. Anyone else experienced similar?

When was your period due? Even early tests only work up to 5 days before your missed period so 4 days before your period is due. 7 days before your period is due is too early to be having symptoms caused by pregnancy. The symptoms are caused by hcg, if it was high enough to cause pregnancy symptoms it would be high enough to show on a test. As they are showing negative it’s pretty safe to consider yourself not pregnant. Whatever symptoms your experiencing are likely just from hormone fluctuations

Hi PickledScrump, thank you so much for your reply. Not due period til tomorrow (cd29) at the earliest, cycle varies between 29-34 days, but mostly about 31 days. In my previous 4 pregnancies I’ve had symptoms from conception which I know is rare. Im sure Im not pregnant. Just need my head to catch up to the logical evidence!

Symptoms from conception isn’t possible as the body isn’t creating hcg until implantation which is a very minimum 6 DPO but can take up to 12. It’s really easy to get in your own head and convince yourself you are experiencing pregnancy symptoms. It happens an awful lot. Try not to stress about it. If you are due on tomorrow take a test the day after in the morning just to be absolutely sure

Thank you, I understand your point of view, but I feel I did experience symptoms. It’s not just hcg, the levels of oestrogen and progesterone change after fertilisation etc. I’m very sensitive to any hormonal changes. But that’s beside the point I suppose. I will just keep an eye and test in a few days to give myself solid proof, hopefully I’ll convince myself then! Thank you
