Elective c section 39-40 weeks

I have 'no maternal indication' for c section. I'm aware that babies fare better if c section is after 39 weeks. I'm just wondering if it's normal to not get a date and just get a time window (39-40 weeks).

Thanks :)

Yes it's normal. As you will be assessed etc closer to the time and the c sections they do get moved around so much to fit in emergencies etc and others who didn't elect but as they get closer it becomes apparent it's probably a better option. Try relax, I know it's hard as I had all this same feeling with my elective. Also my elective was moved with a phone call at 8pm the night before I was due in at 7am. That really threw me as I was so anxious but there were mums and babies with higher needs so obviously they came first. I had to wait another 4 days and spent that time hoovering every hour for some reason haha. Good luck with your new arrival x

I thinknjt really depends on the trust - I'm a high risk pregnancy and had my first appointment with consulatant at 16 weeks, which basically went -
you are having a section right?
Yep.
Good choice, I'll book you in for 30th.

And that was that! Of course, it could be that on the 30th there will be others that need it more and so it gets pushed back - but if my obstetrics history is any indicator, baby will be here before then anyway!

How far along are you now? Generally they advise it will be around 39 weeks but then book in a date after your 20 week scan, depending on when you see the consultant.
