Non alco wines

Hello,

I've just stocked up on some non alcoholic wines but I've since noticed that they're both fermented as it's made using the normal wine process and then removing the alcohol.

I know you can't drink kombucha when pregnant because it's fermented and so I wondered if that would be the same for these?

I think with normal wine the alcohol kills off any potential bacteria?

I know I am probably just being over cautious haha.

Hey.

I didn't drink zero wine when pregnant but I had zero Freixenet (prosecco) and Heineken zero.

Both babies are ok

Personally I found/find her advice as scientifically credible as is possible and therefore reassuring . Have you tried Expecting Better? But here is her thing on fermentation

I thought you only couldn't drink unpasteurised kombucha? I drank the alcohol free wine and beer last pregnancy and so did most of my friends

Thank you! I think the freixenet one might not be fermented so might stick to that one for next time. Have had that before when not drinking and it is one of the nicer ones!

Thank you, this is helpful! 😊

I've seen a few people recommending Expecting Better, I'll definitely check it out as I think I am being a bit too overly cautious.

Thank you that's reassuring. I'm only 5 weeks and first time so think I'm just being a bit overly cautious about everything while settling into the pregnancy groove haha

Its not the fermented part of the kombucha that is problematic, it is the unpasteurised part.
Raw kombucha can (and again, no guarantee, it is just a possibility) have too many bacteria, which would be a problem for pregnant women.

Alcohol free wine is absolutely fine. There is no bacteria in it.

Thank you! Did you find different wines or were they all the same brand? There only seems to be one brand at that particular shop (not in the UK, but it would be a similar shop to Holland & barrets), so if the wines sucks, that will be it for me! LOL

I bought mine on the website drydrinker.com

Not sure if they deliver outside UK/how much that would be, but maybe there's a similar website where you are?
