Oh honey - and I thought I was having a shitty time...
what will they do to treat it?

misdee · 14/12/2004 20:05

no idea. all i got was aletter in the post saying appt next week, and also make an appt with normal diabteic nurse before then.

fundus height in relation to pg is already on the higher end, so looks like bubs will be big (30cm at 28 weeks, so am just on the shaded growth line)

popsycal · 14/12/2004 20:06

i am apparetnyl 29cm on 28th week........

popsycal · 14/12/2004 20:08

i had a week of 'blooming' last week and look where it got me!

mckenzie · 14/12/2004 20:08

a friend of mine was diagnosed with this about 6 weeks ago misdee (she's about 35 weeks now I think). She was given great diet advice which contained it for a while but now she is having to inject twice a day I think to keep eveything under control. I saw her last night at a party and she's looking great! Her diet is soooo healthy, she'll be slimmer when she gives birth than she was pre-pregnancy so that's one plus huh?

If you have any specific questions let me know and I'll ask her for you.

misdee · 14/12/2004 20:13

noooooooo not more needles!!!

will they deliver her baby early? what risks are there for the baby?

OP posts:
DoesntChristmasDragOn · 14/12/2004 20:25

Don't panic, Misdee. I had this with DS2 and just had to watch my diet. No needles.

misdee · 14/12/2004 20:27

phew!!!

I have to have a growth scan done soon, for OC and now GD, least i get to see bubs again. i might sweet talk them into telling me if i'm having a boy or girl.

OP posts:
popsycal · 14/12/2004 20:28

misdee- i have another scan tomorrow...and am trying to sweet talk dh into findingout the girl/boy thing

misdee · 14/12/2004 20:30

OP posts:
popsycal · 14/12/2004 20:33

three things really...

  1. high bp to check size of baby 2. high bp to monitor size in case induction needed later 3. slight bleed on monday got tohave one every four weeks now apparetnly....as well as bp profile and bloods for 2 hours every monday hmmm
misdee · 14/12/2004 20:34

Oh you poor poor thing.

I had suspected diabetes as welland was SO relieved when it turned out ds was just big like his Daddy. Send ing lots of "let nothing else go wrong" vibes through the ether to you.

misdee · 14/12/2004 20:52

dd2 was 9lb, so not thats big really, but am now wondering if i had GD with her, as her sister only weighed 6lb 15oz.

OP posts:
mckenzie · 14/12/2004 21:00

my friend knows she is having a boy and her second child was also a boy and a big boy (10lb something). They are suggesting that this baby will be at least as big and she will have a c section at 36 weeks. She actually looks tiny though, about 4 months pregnant rather than 6 months.

misdee · 14/12/2004 21:01

i look tiny too. hardly have a bump at all, and never showed with either of the girls really till 8months.

OP posts:
misdee · 14/12/2004 22:06

good job its a week till the appt. have just scoffed a syrup pussing lol.

OP posts:
hoxtonturkey · 14/12/2004 22:20

hi misdee, please don't be scared about the needles. they're really tiny - just 6 mm, honestly it hardly hurts (i inject myself 4 tiems a day). and you might not have to inject at all. the diabetes nurse should reassure you, but i'll try & answer any questions. xxxx

misdee · 14/12/2004 22:27

is it hard to control?

can i give you my blood sugar readings and tell me what u think?

OP posts:
hoxtonturkey · 14/12/2004 22:29

definitely give me blood sugar readings. don't know how hard it is to control as i have diabetes all the time & you just live with it, but it sounds like you're in good hands.

am waiting for readings!
