AIBU to expect maternity trousers to stay up more than 5 seconds?

Surely there must be some trousers or jeans out there that actually stay up?

Mine all fall down - under the bump are totally hopeless, over the bump last a little longer but not much

I have a very pronounced low-carrying bump so don't know if this is the problem but am considering resorting to kaftans or dungerees (bleurgghh!!)

any recommendations??

wow I thought it was just me. I am wearing Next linen trousers today which I recently bought which although they have a belt so provide some support, they are under the bump ones and I spend all day hitching them up. thank goodness I spend most of my day sitting down

hmm not only does one pair of maternity jeans fall down all the time (New Look - side panels) but the zip keeps coming undone as well - double the embarrassment...have some over the bump faintly workish trousers from H&M that stay up though - last time around I didnt have this problem cos i was big during the summer so dresses were fine...grr

I found Formes ones on ebay with a huge stretchy band that stay up (am 36+5). Only the stretchy band works for me. Also having the band means no exposing of flesh.

My friend wanted to pass on her mat dungarees to me but she is 5'10 and I am 5'3. I would have looked like a weeble. Like I dont already.
All the maternity jeans I tried were useless.

I've given up on trousers - under bump, over bump, on bump - they all fall down. So I've gone straight for the sartorial bypass and purchased the dreaded dungarees....... I just don't care - they are soooo comfy!

Quite liking maternity tights and skirts though - and the tights feel nice and snug on the bump.

I can't get trousers to fit either. I have gone down a dress size but they still fall down. Bloody annoying! I just don't do skirts but may not have any choice - I've only got 15 weeks to go but I am sick of pulling trousers up all the time!

I hate maternity trousers too. I have just started wearing them this time round and let alone the baggy bum look I hate having to hoik them up every minute or two. Last time I bought some wonderful secondhand Formes trousers with a huge stretchy panel and those ones stayed up. But I lent them to a friend who never returned them . They don't seem to do the same style in the current Formes catalogue, and my eBay search hasn't thrown any up so far, so I am of BearMama.

I do have a lovely pair of Bamboo Yoga trousers which feel wonderfully comfy and don't fall down at all, but (a) they aren't really for outdoor wear, not in this weather anyway, and (b) I am another 5'3" girl so they desperately need turning up before I let anyone other than daddypig and the piglets see me in them.

A friend has said she will dig out her old denim maternity skirt so I am looking forward to that.

Maternity trousers are rubbish.

The only trousers I've found that are comfy and stay up are regular (not maternity) trousers/jeans, for "mature ladies" with elastic waistbands all the way around, 1 or 2 sizes too big. They're high rise, cos that's what old ladies like, so they go high enough to fit over my (now 39 week) bump. And tracksuit bottoms too, which go under my bump.

I have Gap jeans with the over the bump stretchy material - they stay up brilliantly especially if you tuck in a T shirt or camisole - I think they stick better to other material and not bare flesh. x

If you think the provision for normal women is bad you should try being 6ft, I have a 36" inside leg
Next are not long enough, H&M Jeans are not long enough (but their combat trousers are ), cannot afford JJMB, or any of the other ones mentioned on here so I have had to resort to trawling ebay for Long Tall Sally over the bump ones coz they don't stock them anymore.

I am stuck in skirts and dresses although I did have a lot of wrap dresses pre preg so I am sorted

Hello fellow maternity clothing moaners - I thought I would report back on the Bump Up braces as mine arrived in the post last night.

I can officially say that they are a lifesaver! (I do not work for the company)So far I have not had to pull up my under the bump jeans once and I have negotiated plenty of stairs and tube stops today!

Most importantly they don't have to worn over your clothes a la grandpa but clip onto your bra (i recommend the back/side - so it doesn't pull down on your boobs) and then clips onto the top of your jeans. Can't tell you how much they have cheered me up - I literally have been hating getting dressed in the morning and even wanted to pull a sickie the other day to avoid having to wear anything other than my trackie bums!!

xx

Bump!

moominsmummy · 06/03/2008 19:05

I finally bought some mamas and papas black work trousers which are working a treat. It did take them 2 weeks to come into store as I needed them on Short length but really pleased with them.
