I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

I’ve got the basic Chicco next to me crib; the crib has always been brilliant, but don’t buy their sheets! Dudu and Girlie on Amazon are much better quality and cheaper.
Downstairs we use either the pram bassinet on a Moses basket stand or a travel cot with a proper mattress; I find the travel cot a struggle post section but after I recover I think it’s a better solution than the Moses basket for us.

Does this look ok for a bedside crib? www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/nursery-and-bedding/cot-beds-and-bedside-cribs/bedside-cribs/babylo-you-and-me-crib/p/216878 we have quite a tight budget. We do have a Moses basket for downstairs but I have been told they tend to out grow them quite quickly

If your budget it tight I wouldn’t bother with a bedside crib. Use the Moses basket and just move it downstairs in the day. Then just use the main cot in your room for when baby grows out of the Moses basket. If you don’t want to have to carry the Moses basket up and downstairs then you could use the pram for downstairs instead.

Yes that's more than fine. If you're happy with a second hand one, you could look at Facebook. I picked up a Snuz pod one for £15.

Yes, but remember its advised to replace the mattress so make sure to factor that into the cost!

How is everyone doing? It took 27 weeks but I finally reached my pre-pregnancy weight again 😂

GreenAventurinee · 29/08/2023 12:51

Feeling happy this morning. Wasn’t going to have a 4d but changed our minds last Friday and so glad we did 💕 What a lovely experience, and well worth the money.

@GreenAventurinee that’s a lovely scan! We’ve not had 4d this time as we’re having so many extra scans; the last scan we had, this babies scan looked Identical to One of its siblings scans, held next to each other you couldn't tell which was which. Which is nice!

GreenAventurinee · 29/08/2023 13:27

@Spareincoming thats so lovely you can see a resemblance between siblings! I was so shocked at how clear it was. We took 14 year old big brother and he was amazed.

WriMum22 · 29/08/2023 13:56

@GreenAventurinee oh what a lovely scan! I want a 4D scan so bad, as never had one before and this is my last pregnancy so want to make the most of it, but hubby is dead set against a 4D one. He said it’s money that can be used elsewhere, but in reality this isn’t even the reason he’s bothered, ultimately it’s because he’s admitted the look of 4D scans freak him out 😂😂. I’ve told him he’s being a big baby and it’s beautiful but no, he’s not budging. I do have a scan at 32 and 36 weeks with the consultant so I’m backing off him slightly as will still get to see her before she arrives

TMI2000 · 29/08/2023 14:14

@GreenAventurinee oh how lovely and clear that scan is!

We had our first growth scan today at 28+1 and everything is right on track, baby boy is in the 50th centile and already weighing around 2 ibs 11oz so 'bang on average' the consultant said. I love seeing him and can't believe how big he is already!

GreenAventurinee · 29/08/2023 14:17

Thank you 🥰 Baby girl is averaging 2lb 11 too at 28+ 3. My bump is measuring 26 weeks though, I’m not sure how that works.

CliniMama · 29/08/2023 22:34

Hi !
Hope everyone’s doing well.
@Shaker21 thanks for the new thread!

@medicmumma I bought a Bugaboo Fox 3 travel system (wanted the 5 but couldn’t justify the expense as) also bought a Babyzen Yoyo2+ stroller for travel and to go in the car.

@WriMum22 also due on the 21st November! 28 weeks today!!! Just started using a kick counter app. I’ve got a Moses basket for downstairs and I’m debating between the chicco next to me and the tutti cozee lite. The latter looks more solid but from reviews think I’ll go with the chicco as I like how the feet can get closer / right under the bed.

@foodislife1 I’ve had the worst rib pain on and off my right side for a few weeks now and it’s easing off again now. Seems to be when baby has a growth spurt and then it settles down but it’s really excruciating and I have to stretch out to ease it.

@PinkPlantCase I’ll have to try the “I make big bumps” line as I’m also sick of being told I’m huge. Especially when I don’t think I am!!!

@JoyApple will be getting the whooping cough vaccine, just holding off til as long as possible. I’ve had previous miscarriages and want baby to be as far along as possible ‘just in case’ but with no scientific reason to back that up!

Bonsaitoodry · 29/08/2023 23:16

Evening all! Hope everyone is doing well. Wanted to ask if anyone has heard anything about Covid boosters? The NHS website says that you should get one if pregnant, but my GP's not doing them and the midwives don't know either! Do we get a letter through like the original jab and boosters?

CliniMama · 30/08/2023 07:44

@Bonsaitoodry my midwife said they were advising against it in pregnant women but I know from talking to others on here the guidance seems to vary from Trust to Trust.

Mummypig23 · 30/08/2023 08:13

@Bonsaitoodry I was entitled to get one last year because of asthma and experience shows that the system isn’t joined up enough for them to contact you to offer it if you’re not obviously high risk because of age or something. They seem to open vaccination clinics in the autumn and then you can contact them to say you want it or sometimes it’s a drop in but don’t think the clinics are open at this time of year so it’s probably something that happens around the time of the flu jab.

WriMum22 · 30/08/2023 08:44

My midwife has said it’s recommended
to have the Covid jabs, whooping jab and flu jab whilst pregnant. I’d ask at a vaccination clinic when you see them opening up, my doctors usually puts clinics on around October time.

so yesterday I got my letter through with a date for my health visitor home visit before baby comes (live in UK). I always remember that being a significant point for me personally because after the health visitor visit I knew we were getting really close to baby arriving. It’s got me all giddy to be honest. Even better is that as of Friday, I’ll be able to say I’m going on maternity leave next month!! 😂

PinkPlantCase · 30/08/2023 08:46

@Bonsaitoodry I was last pregnant in 2021 when they were just starting to bring in the covid jabs. There was a drop in place at my local maternity hospital that would do covid, flu or whooping cough vaccines. I only knew about it because I walked past the sign to it once when I had a scan. Might be worth asking your midwife if your local hospital has the same? If it’s something you want.

I’m considering going there for my whooping cough vaccine because I’ve been trying for over a month to get mine through the GP surgery with no success 🙄

PinkPlantCase · 30/08/2023 08:53

@WriMum22 how exciting!! 😁 I have my 28 week midwife appointment today.

I haven’t been nervous for the others but I am a bit for this one. I feel like everything is going really well with the pregnancy and I don’t want someone to tell me it isn’t 🤣

Has anyone else started talking to older siblings about the birth?

We bought the house inside my mummy book which is lovely! DS enjoyed it. I also got one about Homebirth called welcome home that has some really beautiful illustrations. We were also looking back at photos with DS of when he was first born.

Spareincoming · 30/08/2023 12:36

Bit of a dodgy morning here; I called into work, saw some of my pupils to handover with their new tutor, which went really well.

Then myself and a colleague promptly got caught in some cross fire as I was leaving so am currently sitting in A&E with a bloody, but likely unbroken nose!
I’ve actually brought the colleague as she doesn’t drive, I suspect she will be getting stitches and a tetanus shot shortly!
As I didn’t get a significant bash, just a knock as I got myself out of the way, am prone to nosebleeds, my nose looks straight, no swelling around the eyes or headache etc and I’ve experienced a proper broken nose previously, the triage doctor says he’d rather not X-ray!

Got blood all down my favourite maternity work top though! Oh the joys!

On the covid jab front, my midwife told me to book online. Bear in mind I live NW borders; the nearest available clinic was Bradford. So I’m still not boostered. I’d really wanted it for whilst I was at work but I’m pretty much finished now; so not sure I’ll pursue it.

Mldn · 30/08/2023 13:16

I just had my 31 week midwife appointment! Can’t quite believe I am this far along. Although I am defo feeling uncomfortable & so bloody tired now 😅 baby boy was tracking 33 weeks, but the midwife wasn’t concerned, so me either.

I fly to Greece tomorrow for a week - nervous about the flight but midwife said I’m all good to fly so try & relax about it 🤞🏼

Hope everyone is doing well in the third trimester!

GreenAventurinee · 30/08/2023 14:26

Little update on my glucose test - I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Really worried and upset and not sure what this means for the rest of the pregnancy.

WriMum22 · 30/08/2023 15:59

@GreenAventurinee sorry to hear this, anything happening out of norm is always worrying, and it’s silly saying don’t worry because you will, that’s natural, but I do know someone who was diagnosed with GD and she had extra monitoring throughout her pregnancy and was placed under a dietician and on a strict diet to control her sugar levels, but baby was totally fine and born happy and healthy with no issues at all, in fact it affected her more than anything due to the diet and checking her levels constantly.

Well it’s been eventful for me, I’ve had a trip to triage because my 4 and 12 year old boys thought it would be funny to play catch with their Dads Doc Marten boot! Unfortunately, my belly decided to be the one that caught it 🙈.. baby was totally fine and wouldn’t stop moving after, I think it woke her up, so I wasn’t worried but I’ve got the frigging rhesus negative blood type so needed to come in and have an anti-d injection and have some monitoring for baby, baring in mind I’m booked for an injection on Friday but still have to have that as well as it’s my routine dose! Honestly, being pregnant with kids.. you need to wrap yourself in bubble wrap 😂😂

Spareincoming · 30/08/2023 16:44

@GreenAventurinee I’m 6 weeks down the line after diagnosis; it’s manageable, honest, it just seems overwhelming today, I cried and felt I’d let baby down! Feel free to PM me!

PinkPlantCase · 30/08/2023 16:55

The midwives cauldron podcast has 2 really informative episodes on gestational diabetes. One on what it means for baby and another on what it means for mum. Really worth listening to if you’re feeling anxious.

GreenAventurinee · 30/08/2023 18:08

Thanks guys.
Done a bit of research and not kicking myself as much. I’m healthy weight, not a bad diet, and quite active so it really threw me. I’ve learnt that anyone can get it in pregnancy though.
Does timing of meals and spaces between meals have a factor. Wondering if I need to take that into account now.

WriMum22 · 31/08/2023 13:17

@GreenAventurinee you should be put under a dietician now so they will be able to help you with timings of meals etc. think it all depends on what your eating and how your sugar levels react. Glad your feeling better over it though and apparently it’s all down to the placenta so literally anyone can get it, don’t ever beat yourself up about it
