I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

I'm ill 😭 covid negative but it sucks. Baby wiggling happily though. Between bladder, acid reflux, baby movement, general shit pregnancy sleep and now the bug I just can't seem to sleep it off like normal. I did joke to my DH I'm officially heavily pregnant and whiny but he's trying to stay on my good side and keeps telling me it does look bloody miserable so I can whinge and moan all I like 😅

JoyApple · 03/10/2023 22:15

@FlyingHighFlyingLow sorry to hear that, that sounds tough, I hope you feel better soon x

JoyApple · 03/10/2023 22:20

@whatamess100 Hi 🙂 another one here with a planned c-section and big gap too from my last. Are you doing anything or avoiding anything to ensure you don't go into labour early? I'm worried I'm going to go early ... and really don't want to. Baby's measuring on the smaller side and really want baby to grow inside.

Shaker21 · 04/10/2023 08:23

Hi all, I had 32 week growth scan yesterday afternoon. Everything was all good with baby. They have put him at 89 centile and estimating at 4lb 15oz. When I had then looked online a few different websites are all saying around 4lb is normal for that many weeks pregnant. I have another scan at 35 weeks and they said if he is still showing 'bigger' on that scan then they will likely be talking about inducing earlier than due date due to his size. Just want peoples opinions if they have had this happen or thoughts on it and what you would do? Would you take the estimated weight that seriously considering it can be quite inaccurate....?

My growth scan on Monday was showing his weight was 4lb 4oz , it really does make you think will this be a big baby , my biggest was 8lb 4oz at 39+5 so I'm expecting this one to be the same. My next scan is 36 weeks xx

PinkPlantCase · 04/10/2023 08:52

@Shaker21 The percentiles for baby growth will be different for all of us! They are based on maternal size, weight, ethnicity and the size of your previous babies if you’ve got any. That’s why we have personalised growth charts.

That aside no I’d take the estimated weight as a pinch of salt and certainly wouldn’t induce for a big baby! If anything if they genuinely think baby is large I think they’d be much less likely to get stuck if my body was allowed to get ready for birth in its own time and I was able to move around freely than in an induction scenario.

I would take more notice if growth scans showed a trend over time of a baby who was very small and with low growth, as that could be a sign that they really would be better out than in past a certain point.

Big babies (that might not even be big) let them keep cooking.

Shaker21 · 04/10/2023 10:19

@LeeanneD11 Oh ok so very similar to what they estimated mine at then! Both my husband and I were 8lb something when we was born so I am just expecting him to be around that.

@PinkPlantCase That is interesting, I was wondering how everyone has a different percentile but same estimate weight. On the actual growth charts on my report they had a cross where he was on the line at 20 weeks and then the cross where he was on this scan and all of the crosses were along the right line so I feel happy enough with how he is going. I am also in agreement that I do not want to be induced if I can help it and as long as he is happy and healthy in there then let him come on his own terms. Is nice to hear someone else agree with the same thoughts. Thanks :)

I was a small baby when I was born and my partner was 9lb baby , but my daughter has taken my side haha and my older boy has taken dad side so I'm guessing this little boy is going to take dad side , do you know what your having xx

Shaker21 · 04/10/2023 10:31

@LeeanneD11 Yeah having a boy, this is our first so have nothing to compare to but was definitely not expecting a smaller sized baby anyway lol

Hopefully the next scan shows his growing nicely , we seem to be around the same weeks . And I feel huge lol , I was told his the average weight so I'm taking it as a pinch of salt and see how's getting on at 36 weeks xx

Shaker21 · 04/10/2023 10:49

@LeeanneD11 When is your due date? I will be intrigued to see what they say at the next scan on 23rd. I actually surprisingly was expecting to feel bigger in my head than what I actually feel now currently which is good lol clearly I was imagining I would be absolutely massive haha!

27th November but booked in for a section 14th November, I'm dreading to think what's his measuring at my next scan lol 😂😂 xx

Shaker21 · 04/10/2023 11:08

@LeeanneD11 Oh yeah we are very similar dates. I am 24th November :)

WriMum22 · 04/10/2023 12:05

My little girl is measuring on 10th centile so at 32 weeks they had her as 3.9lb. Apparently that’s the smaller end of normal so I’m back next week at 34 weeks for another growth scan. Consultant hasn’t said what will happen if she’s dropped, but I’m going for ELCS anyway so that will be 39 weeks. I’ve been in hospital a lot this week due to various things and on daily monitoring and some doctors say she’s small and seem more bothered by it and then others aren’t bothered at all and don’t bat an eyelid. Personally, I take growth scans with a pinch of salt because they never really get it right, especially when they say they are larger. I had that with my son. As long as baby is following a line, I’m happy 😊

Travellingislife · 04/10/2023 12:26

Hi everyone,
I’m just over 35 weeks and my baby is head up 😳
Anyone else in the same position?
I just saw the midwife and she said they’ll probably leave it until week 38 and then possibly try turning the baby.

Hope everyone is feeling ok! I just got back from a girly holiday, ( mums holidays without kids!) it was bliss! Basically reading on the beach everyday. Maybe a bit silly to travel at 35 weeks but both my midwife and obstetrician said it was fine. I didn’t even need a fit to fly certificate, no one at the airline batted an eyelid. Now back to the grind and the last few weeks before chaos commences 😅

Mldn · 04/10/2023 12:30

I had my 36 week appointment today & babies head is now engaged! All feeling very real & I’m beginning to get uncomfortable. I have had a stress free pregnancy & enjoyed most of it. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to keep super active until the last week when he must’ve dropped & running become pretty tough. Time for me to take it easy & begin to panic over the birth 😳

PinkPlantCase · 04/10/2023 13:45

The car seat we bought fits!! Hurray. So glad we’ll be able to keep DS rear facing when new baby comes.

Nov2023 · 04/10/2023 14:15

Had my 32 week scan yesterday and the baby is measuring as huge 😮Just😮Just over 5lbs with a huge jump since 28 weeks. My diabetes test was negative and i don't look overly huge bump wise so I am hoping he balances out by the next scan

TMI2000 · 04/10/2023 14:44

@Nov2023 I had the exact same at my 32 week scan, at my 28 weeks scan we were in the 50th percentile and on the 32 weeks scan he had jumped right up to 83rd percentile and was showing at 4 pounds 15 already!
They had me re-do the gestational diabetes test which was again clear, even better sugars than last time and I have a repeat scan next week to check on his growth.
I am hoping he just had a big growth spurt and will even out again 😂

Nov2023 · 04/10/2023 14:49

it's a crazy change, isn't it. maybe they both just had their growth spurt early and will even out. Mine is showing above the 95th percentile for everything. Neither my husband or I are small but we are not particularly big either so it is unexpected. Just hoping the gestational diabetes retest goes well now. Good luck with your rescan!

Psqueak87 · 04/10/2023 15:07

Over here they call the estimated weight a “just for funsies” weight because it’s so inaccurate! So don’t worry too much.

my friend told me her baby was estimated over 9lb but was actually around 7lb.

mine was estimated 5lb 4oz at my 34 week scan, which showed as 50th percentile.

me and husband are both very average sized. But he was a tiny baby (6lb) and I was bigger (8lb) hopefully ours falls right in the middle 😜

JD90 · 04/10/2023 16:59

Had my next growth scan at 32+4 moved up slightly is now on 13th centile up from 9th so that's a positive. However fluid has dropped more so back to fetal med again in another 2 weeks. Seeing a different consultant though as mine is on annual leave, but I'm pretty sure it's the one I had when I had my first daughter many many years ago. So for now just got to keep an extra close eye on movement in case anything changes but have bought at least another 2 weeks of cooking bub.

Nov2023 · 04/10/2023 17:33

It is interesting to see how different experiences can be with similar due dates. Also good to see that we are all being monitored and cared for. Has anyone had to retake the gestational diabetes test? Anyone 'passed' at 27 weeks and 'failed' a retest further along?

spanglesj · 04/10/2023 19:24

@Nov2023 yeah I had my repeated test this week. (34 wks) Assume it’s negative as haven’t heard anything but waiting for results. Not sure why they repeated it this time as in my last pregnancy the centiles were the exact same and I only had it once though!
