Hey ladies!! Long shot but I’m really wanting an elective c section at st Mary’s Manchester, has anyone had one here? If so, how do you go about it? I’m currently 27 weeks.

Hey; are you currently under the care of St Mary’s?

Tlaxxx · 15/08/2023 13:23

Talk to your midwife about birth options and elective csection and they will book you in. remember it’s your choice x

Thank you xxx

Not had one there but if you let your midwife know they will refer you to a consultant at the hospital who will book you in.
Is there a reason you're wanting an elective c section or just preference? as they can be very pushy but they have to tell you the risks that go with it but ultimately it is completely your choice 😊 x

How did this go for you in the end? Hope it was ok - I am hoping for the same as I have extreme anxiety and terrified of traumatic/painful birth but I’m worried I’ll be pushed/Guilt tripped into giving birth naturally x

Tlaxxx · 01/02/2024 14:58

Hi hun, it went perfect, never guilt tripped me, they were very understanding and told me it was my choice. My little one is 12 weeks now, everything went amazing. Don’t worry too much, and just stand by what you want, it’s your body and your choice. Good luck xxx

Hi, so sorry to jump on this post. So glad you had a positive experience. Currently awaiting a planned c-section too at St Mary’s but I am yet to hear of my date. I’m 38 weeks tomorrow and just curious as to when you heard about your date? Don’t want to be pushy to them but I’m getting so anxious. Any advice is appreciated :)

Tlaxxx · 11/03/2024 18:27

Hey! Congratulations, I didn’t get a date until around 4 days before my c-section, it just popped up on my MFT app and had an appointment for me 2 days before to go get my tablets etc. I did ring up about a week before though and just asked for an update, so maybe it’s worth doing that, good luck and wishing you all the best xxx

Hi @Tlaxxx @Nataliecord1988 I am in the same position - nearly 38 weeks pregnant and yet to receive my date and getting really anxious. The Trafford Midwife team only have numbers for Whythenshawe so I’m struggling to get hold of anyone to chase a date from at St Mary’s. Do you still have the number you used to chase the date through? Many thanks

Nataliecord1988 · 22/04/2024 09:53

Hi! I know I really went round the houses to try and find a number for them as everyone only had the number for the wythenshawe team. The lady who manages the lists called me on 0161 701 9999 so maybe give that a try. I got a call on 19th March as they had a cancellation for the next day 20th March which I was 39 weeks at that point. Looking back now I’m actually glad they didn’t tell me right up until the last minute as I didn’t sleep a wink the night before! Good luck and hope all goes well for you!
