Hi,

Just looking for a bit of reassurance.

I started spotting last week, and since Saturday whenever I wipe there's brown blood as well as brown stringy discharge accompanied by mild cramping. I've not had anything but mild pregnancy symptoms so far, but I can't help feeling like I'm not pregnant anymore. Rang GP and booked in for early scan later this week at early pregnancy unit. Anyone experienced something similar and gone on to have a healthy preg?

This is my first pregnancy, and I've also got PCOS.
Any tips on how to keep calm during the wait?

I hope this gives you some reassurance. I've had four pregnancies and bled lightly with the same light brown discharge you describe in 2 of them. Everything was OK. Brown blood is usually old blood and can be normal or possibly a sign of an infection. Can you go your EPAU and ask to be examined? I was offered a scan at 6 weeks after I had the same as you and saw a heartbeat. Good luck.

Sorry, just saw that you're booked in for a scan already. I know the wait is stressful but all you can do is try and think positive.

I'm 8+3 and I had brown spotting from 6.5 to 8 weeks. It seems to have stopped now. Mine is an IVF pregnancy so I had a scan at 7 weeks and all was well.

Best of luck OP, so many women have this and all is fine.

I had this at 7 weeks, 5 days and had myself absolutely prepared for the worst. I booked in for a private scan the next day, and baby was absolutely fine. They couldn't find any cause for it. The only advice I can give you is to just try and remember that the general consensus is that bleeding, particularly brown blood, can be entirely normal during early pregnancy, the same as sore boobs or morning sickness! Try not to worry yet. You'll have your scan soon.

I didn't have brown blood, mine was pink (brown is better I think!) at 7+3 when all my symptoms just stopped. I was scanned at 8 weeks and all was well, they couldn't find the source of the blood. Then just had streaky red blood at 9+3, and all is fine at 10 (again can't find source). My symptoms came back with a vengeance but in my first pregnant I pretty much had zero symptoms. So there's still a chance everything will be totally fine! Sending you lots of positive vibes!

P.S today the Midwife told me that women have blood in 50% of successful pregnancies!

This happened to me recently gave birth to my twins and went to hospital and they said it could of been from intercourse but nothing to worry about only if it is red blood pink or brown is fine but still go have check up
