Massage chairs - safe??

I'm 22+2 and used a massage chair at the salon yesterday for about 15 minutes when I was getting my toes done. It was a mix of rolling / kneading with some more vibrating movements every so often. At the end of the appointment when I was paying I was talking to one of the staff about pregnancy and are was like omg you shouldn't have used the chair!!! Now I've been worrying all day I've caused brain damage to my unborn son or something which I know is ridiculous but I can't help feeling anxious!!! I've been googling safety of massage chairs for about 3 hours and many articles seem to say they're fine and the level of vibrations can't harm your unborn child but wanted to see if any of you had used them while preg??

I can't see why it wouldn't be safe. Surely there are more vibrations taking a car or train ride. Moderate exercise is safe in pregnancy too, so I think sitting in a massage chair is fine.

Everyone is so scared of getting sued these days, nobody has any more common sense!

Thank you yeah this was my thinking too!! I've been doing cardio 3-4 times a week the whole way through my pregnancy as I've always been active. Some days more low impact stuff but when I have the energy I'll do a dance workout which has a couple of jumpy bits like skipping or whatever and that is totally fine to do according to my midwives so surely a massage chair poses no risk!!

It’s almost certainly perfectly safe but the salon likely isn’t insured for pregnant women to use the chairs, and this is probably why they said what they did. Don’t worry.

Seriously stop worrying - some vibrations don’t harm a baby

I wouldn’t worry. If the vibrations would go so deep to cause harm to your baby wouldn’t it also harm organs etc so very very unlikely. Like others say some people are just anxious and worry.

I've known several horsey friends who have ridden while pregnant and further along than you are. That will be a lot more jiggling than a massage chair and all their kids are absolutely fine!

Women climb mountains, play sports, end up in car wrecks, work out, fall down stairs, get kicked in the stomach, do all sorts of activities and have perfectly healthy babies.

Nature makes sure they are well protected in there. We would have died out long ago if they were that vulnerable that a bit of back kneading would affect them.
