WHEN do you usually start feeling morning sickness once pregnant?

Just wondered what others out there feel! Have had a few pregnancies and all were different. 1st baby-threw up all days til about 16 weeks.2nd pregnancy ended in miscarriage around 8 weeks (no baby developed) and wasn't really sick at all so now being pregnant again I'm worried because I don't feel sick at all and am now in 4th week (from ovu). Can it be same as last time or have any of you experienced no vomiting and gone on to have healthy babies? When do you usually start feeling sick, what week?

I've only had one baby so don't know how it differs with each pregnancy but I didn't feel sick at all. In fact I didn't really feel any symptoms apart from big belly! At the time I worried, but now I think I was lucky. Its understandable to be worried but hopefully you just won't feel ill this time!

Think it varies alot tbh - I was very sick early on with both my pregnancies by about 4th/5th week. Alot of people say being sick is a good sign but I do have a friend who has been sick in all her pregnancies and still suffered miscarriage so it doesn't always follow that m/s = healthy pregnancy.

motherinferior · 28/02/2008 15:00

My mother says airily that she 'doesn't believe in morning sickness'.

(I puked solidly for the first few months of my first pregnancy, had the occasional one-off heave in my second.)

Hi lala,

just to let you know I started feeling sick at 4 weeks (and had hypremesis until 26 weeks!)

sure its different for everybody and depends lots on current hormone levels etc doesnt it? So I'd try not to worry and just enjoy not feeling sick

good luck

ConnorTraceptive · 28/02/2008 15:02

I spent 4 weeks in hospital with morning sickness - one nurse kindly informed me that it was generall "all in the mind"

luciemule · 28/02/2008 15:04

Within the first couple of weeks for me - that's why I thought I might be pregnant.

Felt way more sick with second child than first.

Niecie · 28/02/2008 15:05

I think I started to feel sicky from about 6 or 7 weeks so it might be a bit early for you yet lalaland. I think that is pretty normal although as with all things there are variations.

I was never sick though. First time ms lasted 10 days badly (felt really really sick but nothing happened) and then I only felt rough if I didn't eat for several hours up until 12 weeks. Second time I felt queasy a lot more and up til about 14 weeks but less severely than those first 10 days with DS1.

Every pregnancy is different though. Good luck!

Thanks for reassurances! Don't take me the wrong way-I don't particularly want to barf all day long but when I did I seemed to be"healthily" pregnant. Seem to remember that I didn't feel sick to start with the 1st time around just could't remember when it started.Or do you throw up more when having a girl? I did with 1st pregnancy.

this is 4th pg and never had morning sickness at all with any of 'em, so I wouldn't nec. worry about that, tho I totally understand why you would. Good luck

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 28/02/2008 16:11

Starting feeling sick from about 9 weeks (and up until then I thought I had avoided the dreaded MS!) Felt terrible until week 17 when I slowly started to feel better.

buttercupbabe · 28/02/2008 16:14

I'm 9 weeks and have had no sickness this time round. With ds I felt really sick from about weeks 7 - 11. I've had so few symptoms (sore boobs on and off and tiredness) that I ended up going for a reasssurance scan yesterday to check all was well. Thankfully it was. I think each pregnancy is individual. That's certainly the case for me!

Mine started at 6/7 weeks (not every morning though) am now 24+1 and still vomiting throughout the day - b4 work, @ work, in the work carpark b4 coming home.....

SIL is 6 weeks behind me and has not had any yet and told me the reason I was vomiting was because my womb was in the wrong place and was pressing on my stomach

MadamePlatypus · 28/02/2008 16:37

Wasn't sick at all with either child.

Mumcentreplus · 28/02/2008 16:50

I was sick as a Dog from 6wks and never stopped heaving till I gave birth!...I had a face like a slapped arse all the time and no one could understand.. I was treated like I it was in my head too Connor even my mum! she had no sickness and my sister didn't with her pregnacy either so she just looked at me like I was nuts (although with her second pregnancy she was sick as hell )...I was so pissed off with my doctor he kept saying it was normal and would fade.. it never did..I ended up in hospital from dehydration everytime I moved I just wanted to hurl!...but as soon as my DD was born it instantly stopped!

Mumcentreplus · 28/02/2008 16:51

each pregnancy is different

Bky · 28/02/2008 16:52

I have never felt or been sick in either of my pregnancies.

largeginandtonic · 28/02/2008 16:56

Dont worry, every pregnancy can be different. I have been very nausous with them all, it doesnt usually start until 6-7 weeks though.

I am sure everything is fine, ask in the early pregnancy unit for an early scan to put your mind at ease

belgo · 28/02/2008 17:05

lalaland - it may still be too early for morning sickness, it doesn't always kick in until week 7 or 8.

Have you got an early scan booked? If you've had a previous miscarriage, you may be entitled to this.

mom2latinoboys · 28/02/2008 17:53

Never had morning sickness.

lalaland1 · 29/02/2008 11:53

Just booked an early scan at EPU where 3 midwives plus a registra all said not to worry and could be too early still. So I'm off to pig out whilst I can and hope all's well! Thank you all SO much for your messages-love this site!

Mine kicked in about 5 - 6 weeks, and has gone by now, I'm 15+4. I never threw up, just felt really nauseous...
Good luck with your early scan, will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Lcy · 29/02/2008 18:45

I also had a mc prior to this pregnancy and the lack of 1st trimester sickness really worried me - I am now 16 weeks and have started feeling really sick whenever i get tired (most of the time) and have had three near misses in the last week where i nearly threw up over myself in the car but managed to grab a bag in time - lovely!

Good luck with this pregnancy x

Buckets · 29/02/2008 19:48

Started at 6wks with my 1st two, 4wks with this one (but less vomiting.) I can understand how you're feeling, it would freak me out not to get m/s!

Sprogstersmum · 29/02/2008 20:07

Started wk7 for first pregnancy and this time around kicked in dead on 6 wks - worse this time around - actually throwing up rather than just feeling nauseaous. DD asked me yesterday why I was spitting toast into the toilet! She never vomits so doesn't really understand it.
