HCG at 6 weeks

Hi. I am currently 6 weeks and PRAYING hard for my rainbow baby after 2 miscarriages.

I had a blood test today to check my HCG so that I can get booked in for an early scan and my HCG level was 4838.

When the midwife rang with results she said "You're levels are nice and high so we can book you in for a scan". I'm booked in on Wednesday next week.

Now, I know these levels vary A LOT with each person and I am in the expected range for 6 weeks (152 - 32,177), but every post I've seen on here regarding HCG around 6 weeks, most have been in the 20,000's at least or extremely low with pending miscarriage!

I'm in the middle and it's driving me nuts because they haven't asked me to go back for another bloody test so I won't know if they'll double!

Has anybody else been around the same range as me as 6 weeks??

Thanks Confused

I know it’s hard and you will worry and panic about everything but the midwife was happy with your results so that’s was you need to remind yourself of. If she wasn’t sure then she’d book you back in to get them repeated. I wish all the best for you!

@Hiddenvoice Thank you. I know. I don't think I'll stop worrying until I've got my baby in my arms. You just don't really get much from 1 hcg reading do you as it all depends on how much they raise in 48 hours. It's going to be a loooooong few days until Wednesday 😫 x

I know the feeling really well, even when they are in your arms you begin to worry about something else!
Ive recently had that long wait for the scan and the best advice I can give so try to keep yourself busy, especially Tuesday night. Try meet up with friends, start a new tv show or book and make sure you can have a long lie if you don’t sleep at night.

Hi @gskay83 thought I’d add my experience despite it being slightly different - hope this helps!

I had my bloods done Tuesday (calculating around 5 weeks+2) and my were told my hcg level was 4841 and also “nice and high” so they could do an early scan which I saw gestational sac, yolk and v tiny feats l pole. I was very surprised at the number as the nurse said before the results came in that she expected between 1,000-2,000! Once they came in she explained that they can fluctuate massively in the beginning and “today they were good” so I assume that means dropping wouldn’t necessarily be a cause for concern? (I was put on progesterone at the same time due to 3 b2b MC’s within the last 12 months).

Booked in again at 6 weeks + 5 but waiting to see progress is absolutely excruciating after MC’s!!

Get your feet up and hang in there til your scan, you’ve got this! xx

Scan tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Everything crossed for you 🤞🏽Mine is on Friday!

How have you been feeling? Any other symptoms?

gskay83 · 15/08/2023 15:39

My boobs are tender and a little bigger! And I'm getting very tired in the afternoons. I've had no bleeding or pain (other than achey cramps but that's considered the norm), so hopefully all is good!!

Good luck for your scan. Let me know how you get on xx

All sounds good and normal to me. It’s funny, I could have typed the EXACT same re my symptoms! Hopefully a good sign for us both!

Of course. All the best for tomorrow 🤞🏽 please update when you can x

@VicH13 Had my scan at 9am this morning. There was a good little heartbeat 💛

There was a little implantation bleed measuring just over 1cm but she said she isn't worried about that as there's a good heartbeat so isn't affecting the baby. This just worries me immensely as I had this with a pregnancy last year and I ended up having a miscarriage at 15 weeks. They don't know whether it was related to that bleed though but for me, I just get the feeling of history repeating itself!

Hopefully I'm wrong and the bleed will absorb.

I've got another scan in 2 weeks 🤞🏻 xx

That's great news! Try not to worry, some women have bigger bleeds in womb and baby is fine.

I’m so pleased for you! And of course it’s difficult not to worry but I’ve been trying to remember that every pregnancy is different - helps me sometimes!

Got my appointment in just over an hour 🤞🏽 xx

@VicH13 It's going to be a constant worry I think with my miscarriage history. Don't think I'll relax until I've got my baby in my arms.

Good luck with your scan!!! Let me know how you get on xx

Hi @gskay83 had to use my old account as the new one has kicked me out for some reason! But thought I’d let you know how we got on at the scan.

Measuring 6 weeks + 4/5 as expected. Saw a strong little heartbeat too which was absolutely beautiful honestly❤️ I’ve never gotten this far so was so exciting, other half keeps tearing up over our little blob scan picture🤣

I’ve been discharged from EPU and told to get in touch with my midwife soon as poss as they’ll want to see me before 10 weeks. So going to call GP on Monday and get the ball rolling with that.

Still in total disbelief and similar to you, will probably relax when baby is in my arms😂❤️ xx

gskay83 · 18/08/2023 16:31

@31andTrying Oh amazing!!! I've been thinking about you all day, I'm so glad you got to see your little heartbeat 💛

They gave me a photo and it looks like a little fish 🐟 😂

Only another few weeks to wait until they'll see you again. Will they rescan you at 10 weeks? xx

OP posts:
31andTrying · 18/08/2023 17:02

Aww haha! I’ve never gotten this far I wasn’t even expecting a picture today so I was happy with the blob lol.

I‘ve got a feeling they won’t scan me until 12 weeks tbh as I’ve had no bleeding but I think I’ll probably book a private one around 9-10 weeks if so because 1. I can’t wait and 2. I have a few fibroids and I think it’s just put my mind at ease!

Not too long for your next scan either, how far along will you be then? Please do let me know how you get on xx

gskay83 · 18/08/2023 17:06

@31andTrying It's just so comforting seeing the little heartbeat isn't it 🥰

Yes I'd have booked a private if they hadn't booked me in again. My next scan is 31st. I'm going on holiday until 29th so hopefully it'll go fast!! I'll be 8+6 at my next scan all being well 🤞🏻

I'll definitely let you know!! xx

Hi @gskay83

Just a little message to say I hope you enjoyed your holiday and I hope you’re scan went well today ❤️❤️

gskay83 · 31/08/2023 21:40

@31andTrying They had to reschedule due to staffing issues 😩 But it's only until Monday morning so not too long to wait (although the next 3 days will probably feel like 3 weeks)!

How are you? Is everything good? x

@31andTrying Hi. Just thought I'd let you know that I went for my scan this morning and unfortunately baby's heart stopped beating at 8+6 (I should be 9+3 today). Devastated 💔
