Stopping Cyclogest??

Hey guys,

just want opinions on the below. I was prescribed Cyclogest twice daily 400mg on the 31st of July. I was given a prescription for 3 weeks (until my dating scan) and was told this would be reviewed then once I have my scan. In my local maternity unit, the lady who appoints these appointments is on annual leave and my appointment won’t be until earliest the week of the 21st, my problem is my prescription will run out by this time. I have tried to contact the midwives and they said they cannot help me as they cannot allocate me an appointment. My question is, would you be content discontinuing progesterone without a review? Or would you push for a scan in the EPU???

Personally I wouldn't stop without a review, even try your gp as they often have to refer you to epu if you aren't experiencing pain or bleeding. My doctor referred me to epu yesterday (for something different) and they called today to offer an appointment tomorrow so it can happen quite quickly if you can get hold of your doctor

Thanks so much I think you are right. I don’t feel comfortable just stopping it when the Dr did say that it would be reviewed at the 12 week scan. Would you have any idea if a scan takes place as part of a review with medication in general or would it be purely a symptom based review? (If the review doesn’t coincide with my dating scan as I can’t get an appointment for this as of yet) I was prescribed it due to bleeding for 10 days (previous miscarriages also). Bleeding stopped after 2 days of pessaries. Thanks so much for your response
