Pre-Eclampsia at 16 weeks?

Hi everybody,

I had my routine 16 week midwife appointment on Monday and my blood pressure was high and wouldn’t come down. I was sent to fetal assessment at the hospital and it was consistently high the whole time I was there so I’ve been started on Labetalol. This did then bring my BP down. Blood tests/urine samples were all normal/clear.

I was then given an appointment today to be checked again. My BP was within normal range but there is now protein in my urine. The midwives were talking about pre eclampsia but surely it’s too early for this?

More samples have been sent off etc and I’ve now been told I’ll be checked weekly.

Any advice/reassurance would be great if anyone has any positive stories.

I’ve had high BP since 12 weeks, I was told it’s very rare for pre-eclampsia to start before 20 weeks but it can happen.

If it is, they’ve spotted it early so that should help to get it under control

@FirstMondayInMay On Monday, as there was no protein in my urine they said it was just hypertension. Now with the protein is when they’ve mentioned pre eclampsia.
