Heavy bleeding - handhold

Kamiros · 08/08/2023 02:06

So I'm 6 weeks pregnant after 8 rounds of IVF and one miscarriage 3 years ago. Had some light bleeding on Thursday, went to EPU and hcg still high, bleeding stopped so thought all OK. Just woken up in the night to very heavy bleeding, no clots yet but some cramping. It's calmed down a bit but there's no way this can possibly be ok now right......? Can't believe this is happening again. I am devastated and no idea how I move forward from here. Just looking for a handhold really.

Aww darling. Im so sorry you're having this stress. I cant relate or offer anything that will help you but I hope it will be ok for you. Keep us posted x

Mangotango39 · 08/08/2023 02:36

I am so sorry your experiencing this. Blood doesn't always mean MC . Can you contact your local EPU again and ask for a scan this time? Or if they can check your cervix .
Hoping for a positive outcome for you 🙏

Kamiros · 08/08/2023 02:41

Thank you x. They have me booked in for a scan on Thursday anyway. I called tonight and they said just to monitor it for now and call again in the morning. I was hanging on to hope not having passed clots yet but it's very similar to my last one. Can it really be that heavy and be ok though- I woke up soaked (tmi).

@Kamiros
Handhold here, i'm really hoping everything is ok for you. I had the most heaviest bleed i'd ever seen at 8 weeks which turned out to be ok xx

Kamiros · 08/08/2023 02:57

@Summer2424 Thank you. I'm holding on to hope x

I had a bleed at 14 weeks. I was told I'd lose the baby, and to expect much more bleeding due to a really big hematoma they found. He's turning 5 next week, and he is incredible. It can turn out okay. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for you, OP, and sending you the biggest hug Flowers

Kamiros · 08/08/2023 03:17

@octoberfarm I'm so glad it worked out for you. The cramping has now stopped so you never know. I guess I'll just have to take it hour by hour for the next few days.

Thanks for the positive stories.

Another positive story here, my mum was pregnant via IVF and she started bleeding heavily a few weeks in, was completely devastated. Turns out it wasn't a miscarriage and she went to term with me :) I really hope that you get a positive outcome. Keep resting and trying to take it easy (physically at least) xxx

Kamiros · 08/08/2023 07:40

@falsepositivenervous Thanks so much. The bleeding is now quite light so who knows. Calling EPU shortly.

I have had three pregnancies with bleeding. One was a hemorrhage all over the floor and it was a subchorionic haematoma which settled by 16 weeks. He is 6 and thriving.

With my last pregnancy I had a MC but it was the lightest bleeding, actually just a tiny amount of brown discharge.

Sadly it can go either way but you are not out because of a bleed, really hope everything is settled and growing nicely.

eurochick · 08/08/2023 07:56

I had ivf. On my first round I had a missed miscarriage - I knew nothing about it until bad news at the scan. On my last round I had a good scan at six weeks and then a couple of days later started bleeding heavily. I bled for three weeks. It was incredibly stressful. It was due to a SCH but somehow the baby hung on and is now at primary school. I hope you have a good outcome too.

Bellesjp · 08/08/2023 08:08

I had 3 heavyish bleeds when I was pregnant with dd, i immediately thought the worst but had a scan each time (paid privately for them as couldn't get one quick enough at the hospital and just wanted to know there and then). She was fine each time and no cause was found although it was assumed some sort of cervix irritation. I've had losses before and any sort of bleeding sent me into a meltdown but it can turn out to be nothing

Got my fingers tightly crossed for you xxx

Kamiros · 08/08/2023 08:53

Thanks so much for all the positive stories, they've made me feel better. Even if this doesn't continue its nice to hear it can work out.

EPU won't see me until Thursday, I've just to wait it out. I had IVF in Spain and am on a lot of medication. I was worried that the progesterone I'm taking could delay a miscarriage from passing and asked for advice but she said she's not allowed to comment. Long few days ahead.

How are you feeling?

Kamiros · 09/08/2023 05:29

@babygirl88 Thanks for checking in. I'm ok, not had any bleeding for about 24 hours now so just a case of waiting to see what the hospital say tomorrow. I have at least managed to get some sleep which helps.

@Kamiros I had IVF and very heavy bleeding in my first pregnancy - it was horrendous but baby was fine and I carried to term. I really hope it works out for you x

cancan678 · 09/08/2023 09:19

I had ivf and heavy bleeding. All was ok. Just try and rest as much as you can

Kamiros · 09/08/2023 10:42

Thanks @DivingForLove and @cancan678. This is giving me hope. Just need to hang on one more day....

Thats good 🧡 try to hold your worry as much as you can till your scan tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well. Let us know x

NorthernDuckling · 09/08/2023 12:52

@Kamiros I had ivf too and had a huge bleed at 6 weeks, lost about 1/2 a pint in 20 mins (was on a ferry) and the doctor was very stressed, ended up being evacuated. Had on off bleeding low level until about 8 weeks when I had a further bigger bleed then again another huge bleed at 12 weeks (was admitted overnight onto the Hume ward because they couldn’t stop it, my cervix had partially opened and I was passing hand sized clots). Every doctor I saw couldn’t believe baby was still there and they never found cause of the bleeding. I’m now well into second trimester and bleeding has fully stopped.
it is horrendous when you are going through it and especially when you have no idea when you will bleed again but believe it or not you get used to it and it becomes your normal. I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy and hope it has now settled down.

Kamiros · 09/08/2023 13:07

@NorthernDuckling My goodness, I'm sorry you had to go through that, it sounds awful but so glad all is going well now. Thank you for sharing, it really does help.

so Many cases of bleeding and all being well. I myself on my 3 rd pregnancy bleed at 11 weeks and then again at 14. At 14 weeks I bled very heavy with clots and everything. It lasted a week, then got lighter. Little one was fine and now a strapping 9 year old. they said they thought it was the placenta.
wishing you all the best.

Kamiros · 10/08/2023 10:38

Thanks everyone for all the support. Scan went well today, baby is still there and has a heartbeat, if a little slow. Hospital said no reason to think all is not OK and just to relax now. Easier said than done but I'll need to try. Today is a good day.
