I have put it at the bottom of my bag strap and still feel self conscious.

Do people wear it on their jumper like a badge of honour? Or place it high on the strap?

It's the first time I've worn one 4th pregnancy.

Not familiar with these. Is it a badge for recognition you are pregnant, so for public transport etc?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/08/2023 08:27

I used to wear mine on my coat lapel.

YourNameGoesHere · 07/08/2023 08:30

Presumably you mean the ones for public transport if so then on your jacket or coat would make the most sense. No one is going to be looking at your bag.

Although I don't see the point personally if you want a seat then I'd just ask someone. As it's your 4th I'd imagine it won't be long until you're showing anyway so no need for a badge as people will be able to see you're pregnant.

MossCow · 07/08/2023 08:31

I'd say higher up on the strap is a good idea. I would wear it on my coat in winter. People are supposed to be able to see them! You don't want people to have to scan you to find it like a Where's Wally book.

Hoppinggreen · 07/08/2023 08:31

Never heard of these apart from for your car.
Why do you need one?

Are there other badges called Baby on Board where you pin them on yourself?

QueenOfWeeds · 07/08/2023 08:32

They’re not just about getting a seat though. It’s a visible reminder/ prompt to other commuters not to barge or shove - for that reason OP, I would wear it high up in case people can’t see your tummy.

NancyJoan · 07/08/2023 08:32

On your jacket breast pocket or on your lapel. Most people will try and ignore, it needs to be obvious!

So you don't have to announce you are pregnant every time more people get in the carriage. If people can easily identify you as pregnant you are less likely to be crowded/get squashed.

Of course it's not foolproof but most people are not going to crush into a pregnant woman if they know she's pregnant.

Totalwasteofpaper · 07/08/2023 08:36

Just stick it on your coat...

The Whole point is it is visibile not hidden away on a corner of your personage.
if you find it that weird dont wear one.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/08/2023 08:38

I wore mine on my lapel. Definitely wear it where people can see it

Look forward to all the “I can’t see the point of these, personally I stood in a handstand until 39 weeks pregnant with triplets during my 3 hour commute so I can’t see why anyone would need a seat” posts

User56785 · 07/08/2023 08:38

I don't see the point personally
They aren't compulsory. You don't have to see the point. Confused

Icycloud · 07/08/2023 08:41

They put it on the back window of their cars

Hufflepods · 07/08/2023 08:45

Totally pointless to put it on the bottom of your bag strap! I mean why even bother? It’s not about honour, it should go up high on the front of your shoulder/ chest in order to be visible.

LittleBrenda · 07/08/2023 08:45

I'd put it high on the strap because if you put it on your jumper you are going to be taking it on and off twice a day.

BBno4 · 07/08/2023 08:49

Thanks, yes I'm going to move it higher up on the strap.

It's for the very packed bus that I get every morning.

You get them for free from TFL if you apply online.

Well, no, more like a badge of…pregnancy Confused this sounds weirdly judgemental. It is a badge!

User1755387908 · 07/08/2023 08:55

Higher up so it is visible. At first, I thought you meant a car sticker as I am not familiar with the badges for public transport.

Oh I see, apologies.
I am in The North so don’t use London public transport so I had no idea it was a thing.
i would say on your bag strap by your shoulder then

Spottypineapple · 07/08/2023 09:21

The whole point is to wear it where people can see it. So yes, like a badge of honour. If you try to hide it because you're self conscious then there's not much point in using it at all....

Muchtoomuchtodo · 07/08/2023 09:24

Where it can be seen easily otherwise there’s absolutely no point in wearing it.

ThePaperTrail · 07/08/2023 09:30

I saw someone wearing a Baby on Board badge on the strap of their handbag once. The problem was, she had several other badges on her handbag strap and I wasn't sure if it was part of a collection of badges, which is why she didn't wear it on her coat, or if she genuinely needed a seat.

I think wear it on your lapel. There's less room for ambiguity that way.

Un7breakable · 07/08/2023 20:42

I got told it's a good idea to put on your back strap or shoulder as then people won't push from back/side 🤷
