Hello!

I got a BFP this morning and think that I am approximately 4 weeks pregnant.
Whilst I am of course delighted, I had a chemical pregnancy last month and so my initial elation has quickly been replaced with fear and wishing that I didn't know so early!

Just wondering if there is anyone in the same boat? If really appreciate some company and morale support during the wait!

Thank you x

@Mrsttcno1 it's hard not to worry, but I do think there's a higher rate of people on these mumsnet posting about losses etc than in the general population- people who are experiencing hard stuff probably come here for support, especially when it's hard to talk about those things sometimes in real life. So try not to worry, the odds are in your favour that everything will be OK. I use affirmations that help me a lot, like if I get anxious saying 'I trust my body' or 'I'm pregnant today and I love my baby'. Maybe sounds a little silly, but it helps me focus on the here and now instead of the future what ifs.
And the clear blue tests are all equally reliable, I accidentally bought the weeks one off boots website but normally use the kind you had!

Mrsttcno1 · 12/08/2023 13:45

@WolfMother326 thanks so much for your reply, I did think it may be that people who have straight forward healthy pregnancies are not as likely to turn to these sites as those who have a more difficult time so it probably does skew the narrative! That doesn’t sound silly at all I actually love that idea and I think I’ll start doing that myself! Xx

RedRobyn2021 · 12/08/2023 14:58

@Mrsttcno1

Maybe it would help to look at the statistics online (or maybe not depending on your personality?) I find them reassuring

jodie000 · 12/08/2023 18:21

@WolfMother326 I completely agree!
@Mrsttcno1 first time for me too and I feel exactly the same, just taking everything I read with a pinch of salt. Reminding myself regularly that every body is totally different and we are living evidence right now that it can work 💕

Hey all, I just wanted to add to what I wrote earlier because I think it may have come off as insensitive to people on the thread who have suffered losses - of course they happen (I had a chemical recently but have never miscarried, have 1 child). I was just trying to reassure that it's not necessarily going to happen just because it's possible, and dwelling on it won't help. Hope I didn't upset anyone or disregard their experiences.

faban · 13/08/2023 07:35

@WolfMother326 I didn't think it came off as insensitive at all, I think it made a lot of sense!xx

faban · 13/08/2023 07:35

I love those affirmations

Cinderz123 · 13/08/2023 08:05

@peaky297 how are u feeling today?

peaky297 · 13/08/2023 11:24

@WolfMother326 agree that it did not come across as insensitive to me either. Please don't worry.

@Cinderz123 hello! Still here and so far all seems to be ok! The clear blues have gone from 1-2 to 2-3 and so I'm hoping for a 3+ in a few days 🤞 if all is still well tomorrow I will notify the dr! How are you? X

Hi all can I join please? I'm older at over 40 and have just got a positive test at 2-3 weeks a few days ago, I've had 2 previous mmc which I lost at 5 weeks so I'm feeling very anxious and hoping this pregnancy progresses as it should. Good luck to all Flowers

WolfMother326 · 13/08/2023 13:30

Thanks @peaky297 and @faban 😊

WolfMother326 · 13/08/2023 13:34

Welcome @DizzyM43 - sorry to hear about the losses but hopefully this time will be your chance. Do you think you'll get an early scan? I'm also a bit older, 39 now bit would be just 40 when baby comes if it all goes well. I'm planning to have an early scan around 7 or 8 weeks, a private one but I think you can get them on nhs with previous issues.

Also welcome @Hannah4850 and congratulations!

Mrsttcno1 · 13/08/2023 14:02

@Hannah4850 you may be similar time to me, my app says I’m due 24th April!

I’ve ordered some of the clear blue “weeks” tests to arrive this week, I don’t know what I’m hoping to achieve from this other than I’ve told myself once I have one of those that says 3+ I’m going to stop testing, currently testing twice a day like a crazy person 😬

I’ve been looking at early scans and going to book one for the second week of September when I think I’ll be around 8 weeks.

does anyone know when I need to tell my GP? (Or whoever it is you need to tell)! X

peaky297 · 13/08/2023 14:23

@Hannah4850 congratulations and welcome!! ♥️

@Mrsttcno1 I think all GPS seem to have different policies and procedures. Mine you can tell as soon as you know by completing a form in the surgery, then a midwife will call you a couple of weeks after to arrange a date for your booking appointment (usually at around 8weeks).

I've been scared to go in case I jinx something, but think I will bite the bullet and go down to register this pregnancy tomorrow x

Mrsttcno1 · 13/08/2023 14:34

Thank you @peaky297 I will have a look online at my GP and see if they have any guidance there! I’ve decided to just try my absolute best to stay positive and believe this baby will be coming home with us healthy! X

DizzyM43 · 13/08/2023 14:42

Congratulations @Hannah4850 😊

@WolfMother326 I had early scans at early assessment unit with both of my mmc I hated them as obviously wasn't great news and had to go for repeated scans every 2 weeks I did have a lack of pregnancy symptoms with both though. I will likely contact the doctor and ask to be referred if I miss a 2nd period or the same happens but I found it really stressful and would rather try and stay calm and hope for the best for now. I'm reluctant to even contact gp or midwife yet I'm praying for morning sickness 🤣 Just hoping it's 3rd time lucky for us.

Good luck for your scan! 🍀 I hope all goes well for you and you get to see a heartbeat and put your mind at rest. It's so worrying isn't it 🙈

peaky297 · 13/08/2023 14:42

@Mrsttcno1 that's probably the best way to be! Anxiety certainly doesn't help and I'm trying to worry less and enjoy the experience more.

I've said if all is well tomorrow I'll notify the drs and look into booking an early
Reassurance scan for the end of the month... eek!

WolfMother326 · 13/08/2023 14:49

@DizzyM43 that makes perfect sense. Definitely best to wait as long as you can in that case. I still have three weeks til my scan but I think, if all goes well, it will help me get to 12 weeks with a little more sanity.
